The only good I ever did was remove the air/fuel mix screws and cleaned them, and cleaned the vacuum ports...didnt really help...but I have cleaned a lot of throttle bodys with B12 and had success with better idle...but your not supposed to do that cause it also removes the coating as well creating a repeat clean more often.

 
GM used to sell "Top Engine Cleaner" to clean the carbon from the combustion chambers. When I worked at a Caddy dealer back in the 70's we would have cars come in with the engine knocking and the first thing done would be to dump thar stuff down the carb. The 1st 1/2 bottle while the engine was running then the remainder quickly to drown out the engine. After sitting for a while we'd take 'em out and run the snot out of them. The majority of the time the knock was gone. Yesterday's fuel ran MUCH dirtier than todays does.
