The water level keeps dropping and I noticed the passenger side

carpet was damp

Long story short I have a hole in my heater. Very small hole though.

Bought a new core but what a pain to install. Can anyone recommend

some type of "stop-leak"? At least to get us through the winter

months. I have this philosophy about "additives", don't use them.

I don't like adding any fluids to my car it did not come with.

Can you recommend a temporary additive that won't harm the engine?

Mike

No easy fix since you have a barely broken in motor,

I wouldn't add anything.

You could loop the hoses to by pass the core, save the carpet, floor pan and get a jacket :p

No easy fix and No additives.

Bypass the heater core and get a jacket.

It is 0700 and the temp is 57 so I will need

a goose down jacket.

Speaking of jackets, did that Ford jacket fit?

I did this job last, I was very happy when it was done, my body as well.

There are threads you probably found talking about this.

And no additive of course, even for a while.

I have used Bar's liquid aluminum stop leak with success and without any negative side effects, on small leaks. Just follow the directions exactly.

Chuck I have used that on older engines

Mike's engine is very new

Since he has to do the core anyways I would use an additive in it this soon.

Don, I agree with you but, Mike asked, so I told him what I'd experienced.

Don, Did you ever get those muffler bearings in stock? Chuck

Wish I knew more about this engine, it is a beast.

Can easily start off in third gear and will go up an

incline in first at 400 rpm. What kind of cam??

Yes but they already sold out again

See Mikes post - it's not the cam it's in the muffler bearings - frees up that rotational torque

The chrome ones work even better than the stainless steel ones but, you have to use exhaust pipe grease. Chuck

I know Ford says not to use lithium grease on muffler bearings, but theirexhaust pipe grease is some nasty expensive stuff and it appears that it is mostly Lithium, Can I use that Chuck? If I do, are there any negatives?
The negatives with that type of lube are...

You get a nasty rash the next day

I'd stick with exhaust pipe grease but the Lithium is fine for use on the Pframus rod pivot points. Chuck

During install, valve lift was measured at 0.58 inches.

I think Ford factory was 0.44 and I am eternally grateful.

I used bars leak years ago and it worked for a while but ended up 're-coreing the radiator anyways. I'd drop the heater box and replace the core I did mine at took about 2 hours and have peace of mind.
