My Car
1971 Boss 351
1971 Mustang Sportsroof
1972 Q Code 4-speed conv.
As many of you know, I've been working to get my cars back.

Well I finally have them.

It has been a tough road but I'm looking forward to enjoying them again.

I have a 1971 Boss 351 and a 1972 Q code 4 speed convertible. Both cars have been sitting in storage. Now they are back with me I definitely have some work to do! The convertible is a relatively low mileage timepiece. I think it has about 70k miles on it. That car has been in the family since 1975, when my dad bought it for my mom. It had about 24k miles on it back then.

About 1984, I spoke with Lois Eminger and she informed me the original window sticker was available from her archives, I purchased them for both cars and began searching information about the listed dealers. After learning both dealerships had burned down years ago I became frustrated but continued searching. Since both cars were sold in Oklahoma, my home state, it made it a little easier.

The Boss shows being sold at "Don Cannon Ford" in Cordell, a small farmtown dealership in western Oklahoma.

I contacted the dealership owner and visited with both him and some of his family members. His granddaughter, who now owns a Chevy (yuck) dealership in the same town was most helpful. She reminded me that the original dealership had burned down years ago. But she caught me off-guard by asking me if my car was white or another light color. I told her it was Wimbledon White. She told me to not get my hopes up, but she thought she had seen an old shoebox of some old Polaroid pictures from the dealership. The box was up in her grandparents' attic. She said they were pics of a Mustang and thought they might be pictures of my car. She had talked to her grandfather, and he was sure they only 'got' one Boss 351 and was happy to get it to sell. So if the pic was of a white Boss 351, it would have to b BTW it was too late as I got my hopes up quick!!!! I kept in touch with her - probably bothered her about once a week :D - until she called me with some good news. She had found the pics! But unfortunately they had been damaged by being exposed to many years of the extreme Oklahoma heat compounded by being left in the even more extreme heat that was trapped in the attic! My heart sank. But I told her I would take anything she had. Damaged pictures, pieces of pictures whatever she had was appreciated! I also asked her for anything related to the old dealership. I told her anything with the dealership name would be very cool. She said she'd ask and look around for me.

About a month later I received a packet with the pics! They were indeed very damaged but I had heard about people using Adobe Photoshop to repair old pictures by scanning them into a digital picture file. I did a little on my own, then decided to ask someone who had done this type of repair successfully. I found a guy online that was willing to repair the digital pic for me in exchange for using my pic on his site for advertising. I agreed and here is his (and some of my) work. Not too bad... I have more pics from the dealership but they are still unrepaired. :dodgy:

By the way - the packet came with some old dealership 'coupons', some old dealership key fobs, some mailer letterheads and some other stuff. I was so happy!

So guys - for any of you wishing to look for dealership info for your cars - don't give up!!! I'd be happy to help anyone looking for similar info! Can't wait to tell you about the convertible's dealer info I dug up too!!! But enough for now!

Check my Photo Album for more pics - I'll post more as soon as possible.
