So back to my issues. After replacing coil engine runs fine. What I did get after testing is the ballast resistor is trimming the voltage on the circuit from 14.5 the alternator puts out down to about 12.3 at the coil. One of my questions is, is 12.3 volts to the coil OK? I keep hearing there is normally less to prevent burning out coil and points. The dead coil had 200 miles on old stock wires and 100 miles on the AAW kit before it died. So did I burn it out? Or just random bad luck ?
