Ok so I live in an ocean front house. I get to see cool stuff like turtles nesting, whales, dolphins huge fish schools and othe sea related coolness everyday. So this incedent has become the number 1 event so far. I watched 2 huge tiger sharks attack and eat a dugong(sea cow). Shocking, violent but hell what a awesome thing to witness on a Saturday afternoon, the awful majesty of nature. I am in stunned awe

Ps I wish I had taken photos for you guys but I wasn't about to leave the show

The scale is a lot smaller here. Tonight the coyotes were howling and relatively close to the house so we had to gather up our cats and lock them inside.

How big are coyotes if you compared them to a domestic dog breed. Would they eat your cats ??

I bet that makes you think twice about going for a swim! ;)

The coyotes in the countryside around Nashville tend to run 40-50 pounds with extremes in either direction. They will eat anything smaller than themselves and are extremely careful to stay just out of rifle range.
Jeff - you just need a bigger rifle :D

Mad I would love to watch something like that, Luke.

The coolest thing I ever saw was a hawk swoop in and steal a rabbit from a coyote.

The rabbit was yote bait... watched it happen through the scope on my rifle, right before I pulled the trigger. I missed the yote because he jumped when the hawk startled it.

Most of the ones I’ve seen were pretty scrawny but I bet we’ve got some 35 pounders nearby. Our house has forest on two sides as close as about 100 feet. Some of our cats like to wander around in the woods. While they stalk mice the coyotes stalk them. At night they get bolder. I’d probably need a flamethrower to hunt the coyotes in a dense wooded area. HMMMM….

We also have a lot of dogs comming by to chase our cats. Last week two of the neighbor's dogs had treed four cats. I got out there when they were up on the deck trying to get a cat that couldn't get to a tree.
