Step drill bits = $$$$

I needed to enlarge a hole in my firewall from roughly 1" to 1.5". I ended up purchasing a step drill to accomplish the job. $130 later I now own a step drill. WTF?! Is that a normal price for a step drill bit?!

Good ones that won't **** the bed quick cost a good penny. Make sure to use them with a good cuttin oil so you don't damage them. I destroyed a good one drilling out the rivets on my truck a few years ago that way. Not a happy day right there.

No, I imagine that wasn't a good day at all. I did actually pickup some cutting fluid to go with the bit. Hoping to get my main EFI harness connected to the firewall via a jam nut this weekend.

Dunno, I couldn't find any that went up to 1.5" that were less than $110 or so, actually. Makes me feel a tad bit better!

step bits, and knockouts are cheaper at harbor freight if it's a one time thing. A good 1 1/2 knockout would run about 30 bucks
