...when they've been observing for a few years. Young, Master Franklin helped me take all the remaining pieces off our dash yesterday with 1/4" socket and Phillips screwdriver in hand. There was an on/off switch left of the headlight switch not hooked up to anything and what turned out to be a press on, fake key hole. With that switch and seeing the old, incandescent bulbs on the workbench from the speedo/tach cleanup he dreamed up this. We made it a reality this morning. All I did was run the soldering iron and the electrical tape. The boy has an unhealthy obsession for using too much tape on everything.

For those not familiar with a Power Wheel... They come with to fake headlight cases. With one old speedo/tach bulb on each side he can now see three feet in front of his truck in the dark. He's pleased and said we can work on the Mustang now tomorrow.

Thanks! He's been eyeballing an old grass trimmer engine sitting on a shelf. I'm sure his little brain is storming with how to take it apart or engineer it to be the new engine for his Power Wheel. The baby girl is in here last week of 2nd grade. She's always included in our garage fun. She's more of the shop supervisor but I always encourage her. She'll tell me, "I can't do that. That's boy stuff." I tell her, "That's nonsense. Don't ever sell yourself short by not learning or trying something you want to just because you think it's boy stuff." Use to do the same at the airport at the FBO. The girls never thought they could drive the fuel trucks or help out at the pump. etc. because it was the man's place. I'd tell them if you want to make those stinky boys show you.

Thanks! I always love reading the parent/kiddo stories. Loved every minute growing up in my granddad's garage and workshop.

By the way... Does anyone know why that fake key hole was double sided taped to the dash with that switch in the picture above next to it? I always thought it was for an alarm system. There's stickers in both my quarter windows for some alarm company. Can't recall off the top of my head the name. Would that have been the setup for the dealer installed alarm or an aftermarket '70's alarm? Figured someone might have put the switch and fake key hole there to make it look protected to keep honest people honest. Then disregarding the key hole thought maybe someone had some fog lights or other aux lights attached somewhere but haven't been able to find any signs of something aftermarket every being mounted.
