Left Niagara This am at 4..., got to Windsor, Ontario started thinking about my new Visa card that I was going to use for a slew of new parts I want to pick up at NPD in Detroit on the way home. Realized I either did not have a pin # or I can't remember it... So, I am sitting in Starbucks waiting for a branch of my bank to open so I can go in and resolve before I cross over into the US. PIA, but, better now then ordering everything at NPD and opps, no way to pay... They would love me as a customer at that point in time... We'll get to Indy yet... Happy travels to anyone else headed that way.

Good question... I'll go when it opens and see from there. If someone knows approx time the Fryer collection goes across please post...

You had me worried there for a minute Ray... I knew they were going on Friday, hence my driving down today. May not be on tv though as they are changing the time from 11 - 3pm, you never know...

Sorry, I will miss you this time, have to get back home to keep the better half happy, heading north Sat morning. Have fun!

Well I just got back to the hotel after watching the first 153 cars go through the auction and then the 6 Fyer stangs. Some really nice muscle there - all brands. Prices weren't overly huge, except maybe the original '67 Shelby roadster that went for $1,050,000. Still some nice expensive cars to go through tomorrow as well.

Good and not so good news on the 6 Fryer collection cars:

The scj's and Bosses did pretty good overall, a high of $98/99k to a low of $69k.

Unfortunately, the PB sleeper could only bring $30k...

Off the top of my head, a few reasons for a lower #:

The car as seen in person is not a true survivor car that has been maintained that would command top $$$. It is definitely showing its age overall in comparison to the other five cars that were nice and shiny... Not as bad as my convertible was, that mad the decision for me to complete a restoration, but keeping it as an unrestored "original" at this time would not be my long term solution. Certain parts were missing, some like the air cleaner had been restored, and therefore, looked out of place in the original engine compartment.

Many imperfections in the original paint that have been touched up - from rust issues, to numerous scratches, scraps etc. I spoke to Kurt briefly and he said he picked the car up out of Colorado 10 years ago. More then likely any changes, missing parts, damage were before he got the car. As it sits today, This car is either a driver until such time as it should be restore, IMO.

Putting it in an auction as it was presented today immediately following 5 nice examples, really did not give the car an opportunity to shine as it sits in its own right. Maybe, putting it in its own auction may have helped, when it's not sitting behind very nice examples of SCJ's and Bosses. There are some issues with those cars also, I'll throw some examples out in the coming days for other's thoughts...

I was a little disappointed in the final sale price, but was not totally unexpected when you look at the grand scheme of how this went down.

For $30k, someone still got a pretty good deal!

Been watching the auction on the net. Looks like another buyers auction. Lots of muscle cars not getting anywhere near 50% of what they did a couple years ago. When a 76 bronco goes higher than a 71 RT challenger something has changed. Lots of no sales and when they drop the reserve usually goes no higher. You could sure buy them cheaper than you can build them.
