Had a request to show how we grind down our welds so here it is

Takes a steady hand.

I have been taking the welds down a little closer with small 2 1/2" zip cut disks, then just recently discovered to use the 1/2" belt sander.

I will check out the flap disks to see how that works!

Now once the welds ground down, do you use a little putty/epoxy prime to fill the imperfections?

I realize that no one will see the top of the floor, but on spots like the aprons etc.

Yes exactly..But we hit the welds after we are done with my spot blaster using this attachment http://www.amazon.com/Unitec-UNIHS2020-Blast-Recovery-System/dp/B000JG4FDI/ref=pd_sim_hi_2

We then rust bullet or epoxy prime..Then body filler..Now if your looking to duplicate a factory spot weld you can indent the weld a touch using a Cylinder Shape-Radius End Carbide Rotary Burr. Just do a search they come in all different sizes

I just overlapped my floor pans...But you are making me seriously consider redoing it a butt join. Those look great.
