Welding and flourescent ballasts

Did a little Mig welding Friday, only to learn the hard way that running a mig on the same circuit as a flourescent fixture will fry the fixture. Oops!

Luckily I had 2 spare fixtures in the basement

Me either, and it may be that cheap Chinese ballasts are more susceptible, but I had 2 go out at the same time and all the bulbs were still good.

I suppose I could weld in the garage again and try and burn out more fixtures . . .

I don't have a welder, but that's good to know if I ever get one.

Don't weld on a car that has its battery connected...I believe you fry the alternator diodes and screw up the battery.
