Great video and advice, thank you! I picked up a new water pump and bolts, thermostat, housing and new hoses from Summit Racing. Hopefully I can get it all put back together on Monday.
Thank you, I watched some videos and this is something I’m sure I can handle if I take my time. Was hoping that I didn’t have to drop the oil pan, but it’s the right thing to do. Again thanks for your advice.
Love that “while you’re there” phrase, It’s been my MO since I purchased the Mustang and I’m getting a bit tired of it. I’ve been spending more time replacing things and less time driving it.
Some help here guys please. I’m replacing my water pump and now that I have it off, is it necessary to replace the timing chain cover plate? I’m not a mechanic, I have been learning on the fly since I bought the Mustang. Please see attached picture and let me know your thoughts. Thank you!
I’ve gone with the Pertronix D134620 Flame-Thrower Black Cap Vacuum Advance Electronic Distributor with Ignitor Technology for Ford 351C and the PerTronix 40011 Flame-Thrower 40,000 Volt 1.5 ohm Coil. It took a little fiddling, but much easier install once I looked at the directions. Nice stock...
Thanks guys. I wasn’t really thinking of making money on them as much as possibly a purist wanting them to recondition. They are original and much heavier duty than what I just replaced them with. I’ll probably just toss them. Thanks again for the input.

I bought the kit from CJ Pony Parts. The upper and lower control arms came with the bushings and ball joints already installed.

Is there any value in keeping the original upper and lower control arms off a 1973 Mustang? I recently replaced them along with the the rest of the front suspension. I planned on just scrapping them, but thought I would check with you guys first. Thanks.

Got it.... I believe down the road, I’ll replace the intake along with the carb like most do. For now it’s running pretty good, so I’ll stick with the 4300D. Thanks for your input, it was very helpful!

Thanks for the info Tim. I wonder if I could eliminate the EGR plate to gain the thickness of the adapter plate? I’m not sure if that’s even feasible.

By using the adapter and new carb, did it change the overall height much? I have a 73 Q code as well, along with Ram Air. My 4300D is working pretty good now....but I had it apart way too many times, to bend the float bracket, so it wouldn’t hang up in the bowl. I’m always leery of it flooding...
Great advice all around, especially not to not cut any corners. I tend to get in a hurry. I won’t be working on it till after the new year, but I’m so pleased with this group and how helpful you all are. Looking forward to hearing mine idle again! Merry Christmas you guys.

That is a ton of information to absorb and I can’t tell you guys how much I appreciate the help. It is not the original motor and very well may be a 1972 motor. The previous owner said the heads were from a 1972 and it has square top pistons for a bit more compression. The car ran excellent when...
Thanks, I counted the ten hash marks as well and was fairly confident, but not certain I was at TDC. Still going to clean it up a bit more. I will definitely invest in a remote starter, great advice. Found one at summit racing for $12. There is about 3/8” - 1/2” of rotational play turning my...
