I watch this guy on YouTube that is based in Tennessee. He works only on classics.

In this episode he is working on a 71 Mach 1.

Nifty tool he used to pull the rear transmission bearing. I have not seen one of these before

I saw this video when he posted it on youtube recently and set about finding the tool, as my tail shaft has some movement in the extension housing and my car has some vibration under load in second gear when passing through the 2000rpm range which may (or may not) be caused by the worn bush.

Problem was that google searches for the tool turned up nothing, but in the end I did find one on ebay that I'm certain will work - it arrived a couple of weeks ago but I haven't done the job yet.

The main reason the tool didn't show up in google and ebay searches was because it doesn't say it suits Ford toploader gearboxes. However the specs are that it removes bushes that are minimum I.D. 1.5", max O.D. 1.7" and tail shaft output shaft O.D. 1.25" and the 28-spline toploader falls withing those specs (not sure about the 31-spline toploader though as I didn't research that).

Part number for anyone searching for one is T-0160. The photo below is the one that I bought, pictured with a toploader bushing on it.
