    fan shroud

I took out the RH engine mount and perch.   See pictures. Can anyone tell if the mount or Perch or both need to be replaced with 1972 parts? I was looking for a P/N on the perch.  No dice. tiny image url

    fan shroud

I am trying to find some authentic '72 mounts and perches. TNX for the help. I would never have thought there was a difference in mounts. Ugh !!! Roy

    fan shroud

Today I replaced the Transmission mount that came with the new engine mounts.  Results: Negative.  Still scrapes. I called the supplier and they are sure the 71 to 73 engine mounts are the same. Then why are the fan blades still hitting the bottom of the shroud ? It HAS to be the mounts !! Roy

    fan shroud

Good Idea.  I got a transmission mount piece with the engine mount set but did not install it (I didn't think it would be necessary).  Maybe I should take a look . Thank you

    fan shroud

I ordered 73 mounts. It very well could be the problem.

    fan shroud

Hi All Long ago, the fan shroud was removed because the fan scraped the lower part of the shroud. With the restoration, I have new engine mounts, radiator, shroud clips,  thinking that would solve the problem----NO !!!! I "adjusted" the engine mounts to highest position and it still scraped...

    Exhaust "Donuts"

Thanks mates,    The "Y" pipe and first exhaust pipe are on.  I was going to try to reuse the old silencer and tailpipe but it turns out they are way too far gone. Not a problem since I had already decided to replace them, just not this early. Roy

    Exhaust "Donuts"

Thank Jay;     I didn't think that looked right but the "donuts' were recommended with the purchase of the stud bolts. The old girl is coming together with this restoration but I had a rough time finding a new manifold.   TNX Roy

    Exhaust "Donuts"

I got a new RH Manifold (D20Z 9430 B) for my 351C 2V.  New "Y" Pipe.  New Exhaust studs. Problem:     There is no way the "Donut"" gaskets (p/n  EX 31503) are going on there and the stud bolts reach the flange.  The studs don't reach even without the donuts there at all. Any advice?

    Exhaust Manifold

"For lack of a nail, the ship was lost" All I need to get the old Tang running is a RH Exhaust Manifold. Problem: They are a very scarce item.      P/N D20E-9430-BA The machine shop says repair of this one is a lost cause. Any ideas where to find one for 351C 2V? She is getting closer to...

    Paint "Stripper" (NOT)

Thanks a bunch.  This bloody fan has been a total pain in the neck. I did manage to strip, sand, stip, sand, wire bruck, sand.  and got it fairly clean but I may go with the replacement fan. I would feel a lot safer. Roy

    Paint "Stripper" (NOT)

Excellent !!!    You know your stuff.   Yes, maybe I should consider a '71 fan.  TNX

    Paint "Stripper" (NOT)

I am restoring my '73 Tang and the radiator fan needs to be stripped and repainted. I bought "Aircraft Stripper" (which says in the fine print not to use on airplanes) and applied as directed.  Results: Negative. I heated the part: Negative.    Used sand paper to remove surface paint: ...

    Light sockets

Hi Rackerm;   You were right.  They do indeed make non-polarity sensitive LEDs.  I should have gone with the place you recommended.  I went back to SuperBrite and got 3 Non-pol whites but P/N BA9SF-W-12VAC is very dim.  no brighter than the original filament ones.  So this time I aqm going to...

    Light sockets

Wow !!!  Glad you mentioned that about the alternator indicator.  I am keeping the 4 red warning indicators the stock incandescent but I would not have guesed that changing them would cause in not to charge.  TNX

    Light sockets

Hi Vinnie;     I replaced the instrument cluster backlights, heater control and gear shift indicator with SuperBright LEDs .       P/N 194-CWHP5, minature wedge retrofit--cool white.        I also R&R the gear shift indicator with BA9S-BHP5- Blue    This made for a beautiful display. ...

    Light sockets

I replaced the notoriously dim instrument lights with Superbright LEDs.  Wow !!  Major improvement. However, the lights that illuminate the switches for Headlights, Wipers and Cigar Lighter have the wrong polarity for LEDs (it doesn't matter for incandescent filiment bulbs).    I need to know...

    Exhaust Paint

Ok, That sounds like a viable option.   I am concerned what  colour to paint it.  The engine compartment is black, the exhaust manifold is painted grey and the Engine blue.      And I still need a RH exhaust manifold. TNX Roy
