Wiring 4 wire alternator with external voltage regulator with Dakota dash and painless wiring harness

How is the regulator wired at the moment? Are you using the factory harness? The Painless harness throws a wrench into the works, but it can be handled.

New Member in AZ, Joined to try and put together a Build plan for a 1973 Mach 1 that is in need of total restoration, trying to keep it simple cheap

That's bizarre. The WER rear axle was used in the full size Fords as the "light duty" axle. Had no clue that they also used it in the Granada/Monarch line - yet there it is.

What did you do today instead of working on your Mustang?

My first one was the low-line Shelter Logic "Garage in a Box" from Tractor Supply and that lasted for a couple years until we had a blizzard that dumped 24" on us. It was my fault, as I fell asleep during the storm and woke up too late to save it. I was able to straighten it out and used it...

What did you do today instead of working on your Mustang?

They have a two year warranty, but the other one I have is eleven years old and still doing fine. I'm certain it wouldn't last nearly as long in Texas. I've seen where people will put another tarp over the top as a sacrificial layer.

What did you do today instead of working on your Mustang?

Erected a new Rhino Shelter hoop house as temporary winter storage and work space for the Galaxie sportsroof. It won't fit in my garage, so I have to make do until we get a design locked down and approved by the town for the addition. I recreated the plywood floor that I used in my other hoop...

Ideas for tail lights and panel replacement

I recently saw a set of non-GT 70/71 Torino taillights in one of our cars, it looked okay-ish. Maybe check out Long's Customs, they're doing some nice stuff for the earlier cars. Maybe an inquiry or two would motivate a 71-73 taillight design...

    2100 2v carb problem

If your '73 is original, it will have an EGR spacer plate under the carb. The EGR can carry a lot of heat into the carb, which accelerates the fuel evaporation. If you have the factory air cleaner, make sure the vapor hose on the passenger side is connected to the charcoal canister behind the...

    Issue with rocker arms

You didn't say which engine you have, but like Don said, the factory 351C are simply bolt down and torque to spec. 302 rockers are also non-adjustable and are torqued to 17-23 ft-lbs

    351c motor frame mounts

From everything I've read, the mounts were set at a different angle to deal with a vibration specific to the the convertible body style. This goes back to the 67-68 cars. AFAIK they do not change the position of the engine, as there are no convertible-specific fan shrouds.

    351c motor frame mounts

The problem is the convertible mounts aren't available. *Supposedly* Dan at The Mustang Barn can make a set of the correct convertible mounts, but 've yet to see anyone actually purchase and use them. Least frustrating solution is to swap to the non-vert parts.

1973 Convertible Project: Continue Rust Treatment

I'd be happy to do that work, sure beats welding in new floors.

    Strange noise

Grease your u-joints, If it still makes the same noise, then you'll need to look at the differential. You might have a pinion bearing on the way out. Those bearings see a tremendous amount of load, which changes on throttle position.

I may have already asked this question

Those were crimped into the panel. I'd get some square nuts and weld them into the holes.

    Headers for 351C

The 6915 fit without any issue, no dinging or denting of tubes required. The 6921 look nearly identical in the way they are fabricated, so I'd venture to say they won't have any issues either. The 6915 are honestly some of the easiest headers to install. Both sides go in from the bottom with...

    Help Removing Trim 1966 Galaxie

Dental floss or fishing line for the letters. The quarter trim looks like two clips with nuts and a bunch of sealant coated screws Once you get the nuts off the rocker trim retainers, the plastic clips are usually pull up and pop out at the top, or down and pop out the bottom. I don't have...

Anyone replaced all the brake lines?

Like GP noted, start with the body to rear axle hose before committing to a full line replacement. It's very common for the interior of the line to be blocked due to swelling of the hose. I'd much rather use a prebent kit than making my own. Did plenty of that in my early days, the made to fit...

    1973 SIDE BODY MOLDING TRIM

The moldings were used 71-73, but after 71 they only had a black rubber insert. 71s were color coordinated to some of the exterior paint colors. Here's the part location diagram and part numbers for the clips. Try eBay or some of the NOS parts sellers,

    The Mach-A-Reina build thread

The fuel line is to accommodate the 6 cyl and V8 engines. The fuel pump on the 250-6 was about in the middle of the shock tower. If you're just looking to protect the sheetmetal and not taking the entire front end apart, I'd skip the POR15 and just use a semi gloss black rattle can paint. If...
