New Radiator Install - proper block flush

Rinsing a block out with hose water shouldn't hurt it. These things were designed back when doctors were smoking cigarettes while delivering your baby and kids grew up drinking from the garden hose. If a little hose water hurts your engine, it was too much of a princess anyways. :D

New Radiator Install - proper block flush

Rust and corrosion from somebody filling up the radiator with a garden hose. And little chunks of RTV where somebody got overzealous with it installing the water pump or thermostat housing. Little chunks of metal from when the spring in the lower radiator hose rusted and broke apart. Some...

Cleaning up parts - recommended method and products?

I was thoroughly impressed with evaporust. Available in gallon jugs from harbor freight and oreiley auto. Bolts that were so rusted, i had to use penetrating oil and an impact gun to remove. I thought I was gonna throw them away. But soaked a day in evaporust and they look brand new. I also...

    71 parts car value

You got $300 just in the 73 bumper. :D Its hard to say a value without seeing lots of detail. A parts car is worth whatever its parts are worth, minus the amount of effort it would take to offload those parts. If you were close enough, I'd give you $300 just for the body parts off the front...

Front disk brake caliper and rotor replacement search

You have a link to the part? When I searched on their website, all I saw was some manufactured ones, but no guarantee you get fomoco and not chinesium. And the passenger side was not available for order.

    Overheating issue

When you turn the engine off, the water pump stops pumping. The coolant thats in the motor absorbs the heat, and that reaches your temp sending unit. You start the engine, the water pump starts pumping, and cooler water comes in from the radiator, bringing your temp gauge reading back down.

WIPERS No worky - Help 1972

Ford inadvertently created the automatic windshield wiper with this setup. I had left the wiper switch turned on one time. Then I was driving around in the rain. When the water came down and the ground strap got wet, it had enough conductivity to complete the circuit and the wipers turned on...

    Overheating issue

If you remove the radiator cap on the engine and crank it up, you should be able to look down into the radiator. When the thermostat opens, watch water flowing through from the hot side into the cool side. If you see that, then the water pump is pumping. Are you sure you have the correct...

WIPERS No worky - Help 1972

You can change the switch without pulling the dash apart. On my car, i changed the switch and the motor. Wipers still didn't work. The cause ended up being the ground for the motor was corroded. I pulled it off, hit it with a buffing wheel, and put it back on. Wipers magically worked...

What rear axle gear do I have?

Do you know which speedometer drive gear you have now? If not, you can check it by just removing the 1 screw and clip that holds the speedometer cable into the back of the transmission. Then pull the cable out and the gear is stuck to the end of it. You can count the number of teeth. Since...

    Interval Wipers

I have one in a box I got from CJPony a few years back. Never got around to installing it. IIRC, it required a little cutting and splicing of wires. So its not as direct plug and play nor reversible as some of the ford ones. And I believe there was a little song and dance to use it. Because...

    Product Review - Progression Ignition

Cool idea. My concern from looking at it is it looks like the map sensor is permanently affixed to the main board. And the system seems to be built around the idea that everything is done electronically. What happens when that sensor goes out? Are you stranded, or does it go into limp mode...

    351c Build Ideas And Advice

Mine's holding up fine even with a cam and increased compression. The 2V held up fine for 50 years in stock form. I rebuilt it cause it was just old and tired. I put a cam and pistons in it, still running the stock 2V heads. Its a compcam's flat tappet. The cam profile is meant for torque...

    Long Live the V8 Mustang!

I'm torn. Yay for 4 door sedans. A mustang is a 2-door sports car with a barely usable backseat that exists only for insurance purposes and small children. Did ford fire everybody in the naming department? Calling a 4-door EV suv a mustang. Reusing the name of a small car from the 70s for...

    351c Build Ideas And Advice

We had a recent thread where somebody mentioned the holley sniper throttle body style EFI run better with a single plane intake. I probably wouldn't worry about aftermarket heads. That was the cleveland's big claim to fame. The iron heads flow plenty good enough.

    383 Stroker

The exhaust and all the accessory brackets would need to be swapped. OP said he's on a tight budget. Swapping to a cleveland motor won't be cheap.
