1972 Grande 302 w new thermostat overheating. With smoke coming out of my cool air intake.

I dont see a cold air intake. Can you circle on the picture where the smoke/steam was coming from? I do see a couple missing things like the passenger side PCV line and the vacuum line coming off your breather snorkle. And its hard to see in the pictures. Do you still have the metal tube in...

    Best Mufflers

This are what's on my one of my cars. They aren't exactly quiet while driving around. It sounds pretty quite while idling and chopping. They get louder up over 1000rpm. The car has some sort of dynamat under the carpet and its still kinda droney sounding as I cruise around. Definitely does...

    General information on Car lifts?

They have the same parent company. They are not made in the same factory, or even the same continent. Forward is one of the more budget friendly lift brands in their portfolio. That doesn't mean that they're bad. They're one of the better brands of chinese lifts. But that's their...

    General information on Car lifts?

Forward is not made by rotary. They have the same parent company. Forward are imported from china, though.

    The hood seems too warped?

Can confirm. My hood fit good. Then one day I tried to close the hood, with the hinges very stiff. I deformed the hood, and would have folded it in half if I hadn't stopped trying to close it. I'm not sure what the correct method for lubricating the hinges is. I open the hood about half...

    Aftermarket Steering Wheel blues

Yep, folks are putting those little toy steering wheels on all the classic cars, no matter what brand.

    Aftermarket Steering Wheel blues

Maybe its just me, but I hate that all these aftermarket steering wheels are tiny. My recent purchase came with one. It feels like you're driving around a toy. The little steering wheels block your view of the dash, too. The car manufacturer designed things so you can see the gauges. When...

I am needing a tachometer gauge mounted

I've got another avocado car. I did the rocketman tach and scored a center section with the woodgrain and gauges. Steering wheel's seen better days, though.

    General information on Car lifts?

I use portable jacks under mine. Even if I'm not yanking out a heavy component. There's not really any way to get a 20ft long truck on a 2-post lift and not have it rock around as you wrench on it. Pop a jack under 1 end of it and its rock solid. Just remember to remove the jacks before...

Accidentally cut the metal fuel line

You've already got that one in now. I'd run with it until you see its a problem, which may never happen. One other way to do it would be buy a roll of fuel line and use your existing one as a pattern while you bend it yourself.

    Best Mufflers

For quiet, I like the no-name turbo mufflers. If you want the flowmaster sound, you can get that for half the price. My local midas exhaust guy uses some clone brand and swears by them. It was still more than the $40 summitracing race mufflers I had him install. :D I'm not recommending...

    General information on Car lifts?

I went with rotary. Also made in the USA, and just about exclusively what you'll find around town at service stations and car dealerships. If you are looking for something that'll lift all the huge brodozer trucks, they may bump you up into the area that doesn't work well for smaller passenger...

Accidentally cut the metal fuel line

I mean... ford made the fuel line that size for a reason. :D If the car would always work fine with less flow, they would have saved a few bucks on every car by running a smaller fuel line. I think day to day driving, a slightly kinked line won't matter. It may be a different story when you...

    FMX trani “toast”

Good deal. Before you get too gung ho, make sure you know what all will need to change. Like i think the transmission lines are different, and C6 ones will run $70 a set. The neutral safety switch is a bit different. The FMX cars should have it in the shifter, while the C6 cars had it on the...

    FMX trani “toast”

There are lots of shops in my AO that will rebuild an FMX. Even if there weren't, you can pretty easily swap in a C4 or C6 in its place, which are also very easy to come by. If you have the tools, you will save a grand and open your options for a shop up if you pull the transmission yourself...

    351C where to start?

All the nuts and bolts from the lowes fastener section make me doubt that. :D Half the bolts we can see in the engine look like they came from the hardware store.

    351C where to start?

For 1, I went with a pertronix 3 guts inside a stock style distributor. 1b - you need to make sure the gear on the bottom of your distributor is compatible with your cam. Typically, the difference is if you have a roller or flat tappet cam. The 351C only came with flat tappet. Somebody may...

    71 M code X pipe, H pipe or neither

I recently got an old muscle car with a fancy exhaust. Its got a cammed 6.0, headers to 3" exhaust, X-pipe, and duals out to borla mufflers. The sound is definitely not my cup of tea. I don't dislike it enough to cut it out of a perfectly working exhaust. But if it anything did come up and I...

What did you do today instead of working on your Mustang?

You and me both. My project for the past month is like #9 in the yard. 73 nova. Its got a pretty good pedigree as far as what all options it came with from the factory. Currently sporting a 6.0LS with a cam, spicy transmission with a transbrake, holley computer, 4-link currie rear with a...
