    Car Insurance

I haven't had any issue with Hagerty with my old cars. They did ask for pictures to help backup the stated value. My mom had progressive who insured her classic car for the full value she paid for it, just based on her showing them the bill of sale.

1/4 miles times and horsepower - seeking expert opinions

Could be any number of things. My first guess would be that you're not that consistent of a driver. You're gonna need to run more than 3 quarter mile passes over 4 years to develop the skills to drive the car consistently. Then after the driver, I would blame different track conditions. Your...

    Rear end gears

I just put together a rear end for my chevy with an eaton truetrac carrier and yukon gears. It doesn't make any more noise than the factory open diff I pulled out. I think its the detroit locker style that has a bit of a clunk to it even when setup correctly.

What did you do today instead of working on your Mustang?

This past month has been rebuilding an axle for my C10. The old situation was pretty extreme. Factory 10 bolt open diff with 2.56:1 gears. Back in the day, I'm sure that did great on the highway. I have swapped in a 700r4 transission so now have an overdrive. Considering the factory tire...

Install Engine with Transmission attached or not??

If you make a list of the work each method saves you vs what it requires, leaving the transmission in the car is less work. With the transmission in place, you avoid futzing with disconnecting and the reconnecting the cooler lines, removing the driveshaft, or draining the transmission fluid and...

Install Engine with Transmission attached or not??

If your transmission is already in the car, I think its easier to leave it there and just drop in the motor. Then mate the two together from under the car. Flexplate attached to the motor, torque converter sitting inside the transmission.

    Broke yet another Throttle Cable.

My first thought is how is everything setup? What's your linkage look like where the throttle cable attaches to the intake and carb? Next up, do you care about it looking stock? I run the lokar throttle and kickdown cables in some of my hotrods. I'm going on 20 years on 1 of them and still...

    Wrecked

As somebody who went down a similar path, I would tell you that its worth it, but it is a very long and expensive process. Especially since your car has fairly severe structural damage. The cost to fix it, including tools, parts, labor, and paint and body work will cost you close to double...

Holly Sniper EFI issues or NOT?

I have a carb cheater on one of mine. As a tuning aid, it is great. I do not like it for running in auto-tune mode to try and do on-the-fly adjustments. My reason for saying that is mainly the speed at which it operates. It cannot slam the IAC valve closed fast. Therefore, if you have it in...

Holly Sniper EFI issues or NOT?

300hp/300ftlb is a fairly mild build. 6MPG sounds like something else is already janked up. You should be able to get double that around town and triple that on the highway, with a carb. For EFI, there is a competitor to holley called aces. They sell kits like this, where the ECU mounts under...

    Buzzer

I'm with Steve on this one. There's a pressure sensor attached to the bottom of the passenger seat in my cars. I just went out and looked under the seat to double check. Otherwise how would the car know whether or not to buzz if you didn't have the passenger seatbelt pulled out.

    Wrecked

I think the issue is not just the roof. The A pillars are structural. You wont get the original rigidity back if you cut the top off a different car to weld on. The obvious answer is OP should take this opportunity to add a roll cage in when he swaps the roof. :D

    Buzzer

I was sad when i replaced my seat belts with 3pt ones and didnt have a way to connect the new ones so the seat belt warning doodad worked right. It was a fun little feature while i had it.

    Wrecked

Did you have full coverage on it? If so, check what the insurance company wants for the buyback price. And Remember, it is the adjuster's job to screw you over. 99% of the time, their first offer is too low so dont accept it.

Oof. Doesn't look like the A-pillar trim survived.

Parts Wanted Parts Wanted List - 72 Sport Coupe

All the studs are on the corner trim pieces. I popped the hood, and 3 of the studs have left the chat on the hood molding. The ones on each end are there. Its missing 3 of the center ones.

Parts Wanted Parts Wanted List - 72 Sport Coupe

I have 2 out of 3. One chrome fender extension and hood trim from my 72 parts car many moons ago. The other 71/72 fender extension I have laying around is primer colored. I have no clue if there's chrome under the paint or not. The chrome ones are driver quality. 50yr old, with some...

Those don't look like they're sticking out from under the car.

Looking for feedback on my new wheels

I'm going with the hive on this one. I'm not a fan of the tires sticking out from under the car look. It always reminded me of a frog. And for god's sake, dont put a bandaid on it by adding fender flares or a wide body kit. :D I say either get wheels that fit right, or narrow your rear...

    71 parts car value

Being a 73, that rules out it having any of the monster motors. It has drum brakes up front. Somebody would have been a wild one to order a Q code with 4 wheel manual drum brakes. :D I do see AC components in the grille.
