    71-73 MCA Judging rules 2022

For those interested in showing under the MCA judging rules for 2022 they are posted with this thread.

    Storage Questions

You can get a plastic washer at most auto parts stores that works well for a slow leak at the drain plug. It usually deforms a little to help seal around the opening if the threads are bad or the pan may be slightly warped at the plug. They are made of a softer plastic to help fill the...

71-72 Mach 1 Grille with STAINLESS STEEL Trim.

The original post is a bit older so I will add this comment on it if someone is searching this subject in the future. The Daniel Carpenter grills are pretty good if you cannot find an original. I would advise if you by a repro grill do not go with repro stainless. It is very thin and deforms...

    Storage Questions

I have used Grandpa Gus rodent repellant bags in my cars for the last 3 years since we moved. We are pretty far out in the country with alot of woods around us. We live in a subdivision, but alot of "nature" around us. These have worked for me and have not left any tell tale smells after or...

1971-1973 Mustang Mach 1 & Boss Mustang and A Rare Shelby Europa at the 2021 Ford Nationals

I spoke with the owner of the Europa clone and he did confirm it was truly a clone. He was very convincing that he acquired Europa specific parts and did have a current Europa owner from Europe assess the car and commented it was very original appearing. He did go a little to far in my opinion...

    What is a survivor?

I would agree with the comments made as well. I will ad that very conservative paint work to touch up some scratches or chips in "my opinion" would not diminish a survivor label. If you truly want to get to the bottom line of survivor you need to get the designation by a judging body be it...

    Storage Questions

I would drain it. If it has ethanol mixed gas it will absorb water even with sta-bil mixed in. If non-ethanol gas you could leave it, but being in TX if it sits through a summer I would imagine the heat would even cook that down in the tank. This may sound crazy to some, but if you have a new...

Big block won’t clear flat hood

Sounds like you have done work to the motor (507BBF, alum. heads). have you installed an aftermarket intake? all of these changes would definitely move you away from Concourse in this posting area. I suspect they would also modify the under hood clearance enough to present this challenge. Was...

    1972 Mach 1 at Mecum.

I looked the car over in person while parked in the parking garage before crossing the block. Car definitely presented nicely. He has taken some liberties in making it his own car which I definitely appreciate. I checked the bid goes on booth at the show and looks like high bid was in the mid...

    Dash board colors

It is actually a dark charcoal not black. You need it in full sunlight to really see the color difference. To your original question, yes all of the metal frame of the dash was painted in the dark charcoal.

    Storage Questions

I would agree with many of the comments already shared to drain the fuel. Sounds like the rest of the fuel system you plan to replace, but if not I would also drain the lines and carb bowls. These ethanol added fuel do bad things over time. With regard to the motor if you can catch the oil...

Could it be front end lift at 100+ mph?

I am no aero expert or road racing expert, but I am not thinking front end lift would lead to intermittent braking problems. What brake fluid are you running? At the end of a long straight at high speed I would think you would be on the brakes pretty hard. You may be boiling the brake fluid...

    Chattanooga Motorfest Concourse D'Elegance

Found this video of awards presentation. Be advised it is 2 hours in total length, but truly some great cars. If you want the cliff notes version to advance to the 72 it is at the 1:16:25 mark after the AC Bristol. https://youtu.be/9grJ-XwXr5A

    Chattanooga Motorfest Concourse D'Elegance

Thank you all. Actually have a new award. Come to find out they mixed up the awards during the presentation. I received best in class for American Muscle pre-1975. They handed me the 2nd place trophy as the 67 Shelby GT500 who took 2nd had left the show early. The autographs are Chip Foose...

Exciting development: new upholstery with *real* Comfortweave

You are correct. Many contributed to a post on the comfortweave issue in the past and nailing down when ford transitioned in the 73 model year. Mrgmhale is correct about the comfortweave manufacturer having a fire leading to the end of the material. My understanding SMS is selling off old...

Exciting development: new upholstery with *real* Comfortweave

Did this same thing for my 72. I was very happy with the outcome of obtaining the SMS original material and having TMI sew it in their pattern to fit their foam. I hope you are equally as happy as I have been with the outcome.
