    Steering gear replacement?

I bought one from red head (located in Auburn,WA) for my 81 F350. It works fine, no leaks, no problems. Make sure to replace your fluid lines and pump too.

My beautiful 72 convertible - Wrecked & Ruined

One of the accidents I went to( can’t really call it an accident), a guy high on meth, ran a red light doing about 50 mph, hit the left front of a bus. The bus was knocked to the right, went up on the sidewalk and killed a young female college student. The guy had warrants for his arrest in...

My beautiful 72 convertible - Wrecked & Ruined

very sad about your car. Fortunately you are okay. You’ll have to get the car on a frame rack, other than obvious visible damage, this will tell you if there is any damage to the frame rail, shock tower, A-pillar, and rocker. I’ve spent the last 21 years driving for my job. I can’t begin to...

    F-ing HOA issue!

When dealing with insurance companies and older cars, you will probably need to get appraisals of your car’s value prior to the accident. If the car’s value comes in higher than the cost to repair, then you might be able to get a complete paint job since they can’t match old paint. I would send...

Noob 15 year old restoring 1972 Mustang

I agree with everyone, keep it running, work on drivability, brakes, steering, etc. then you will know what is good and what’s not. Before you start disassembling everything, take lots of pictures so you know how everything looked when it was together. Also, store your parts in baggies, box’s...

    Rebuilding stolen convertible

It really sucks that there are so many thieves. The penalty for stealing should be to cut their hand off. Probably would have a lot of one handed people. I am glad you were able to obtain a donor car.

Sold 1 owner 1971 Mach 1 for sale in SW Ontario, Canada

I put aside $125000 for the garage. The problem is labor. Or the profit margin they want.

Sold 1 owner 1971 Mach 1 for sale in SW Ontario, Canada

I think this is a great car. One owner, low mileage, no rust, mostly original, and in very nice condition, even exceptional for its age. When you look at the cars available for sale, a lot of them are junk. Some people go to great lengths to cover up shotty work. Remember the green Mach 1 that...

    Hood paint

I agree. I have heard back in the day that it was done to reduce glare. I think Detroit started doing it to copy the aesthetic of a race car look 👀 I have to admit it looks good, so good that it’s been done for decades.

What cylinder heads did you decide on?

    Easy question, I hope

Since your car is a 1971, you should find a 1971 dash assembly. 1971’s shouldn’t have a seatbelt light on the passenger side. In 1971, the hole on the left would be a seatbelt light, and if you have a tachometer you would have an additional hole for a park brake light.

Report from racing the Muscletang at the Optima Ultimate Street Car Challenge at Road America this past weekend (6/30/2024)

I think your car is bad *** and a great job driving too. Very impressive.

    F-ing HOA issue!

There’s nothing wrong with the way your car looks, in fact it’s a damn nice looking car. You should be able to easily challenge the hoa. I am sure there’s nothing in the rules that say paint has to be perfect. Stupidity continues to reach new levels.

Loud Violent Clunk When Shifting FMX Into Gear. Any Transmission Experts?

Can you feel and or hear where it is? With the wheels on the ground and trans in neutral, how much rotation is there in the driveshaft? Are your motor mounts and transmission mount in good condition? When driving the car, does it shift normally into 2nd and 3rd gears?

    Engine failure after 20000 km.

Wait a minute, you mean parts break when they wear out, that’s just crazy talk, lol. I think ford should repair it under warranty, after all, it’s only been 50+ years.
