NEED ADVICE ON SAIL PANEL INSTALL

I'm massaging things as we speak. And to make it all the trickier, I'm installing the 2 piece rear quarter sections sections made by MP products since these panels aren't available. onward...

NEED ADVICE ON SAIL PANEL INSTALL

I guess I was most curious that the clip holder on the back of the sail panels that I ordered could even be used.  If you know how those clips work, they need some force to pull them out.  The weak little cardboard tab on the sail panel would never stay in place if you try to pull the clip out. ...

NEED ADVICE ON SAIL PANEL INSTALL

It does help.  It confirms that I'll probably have to custom fit/make the best of it.

NEED ADVICE ON SAIL PANEL INSTALL

So I snapped my new sail panel into its factory hole using an interior clip, like on door panels. I must assume this is the correct way from the factory.  My rear interior was toast when I got it, so I don't have much reference. This is a fold down rear seat car. Anyway, there is a large gap...

Replacing Trim On Interior Rear Quarters

Thanks for that.  I'll look into one.  Did you happen to do your weatherstripping on this panel also?  My strips are stapled on...

Replacing Trim On Interior Rear Quarters

I'm don't see myself going down the stapler road. I don't need it that correct inside the quarter area where it can't be seen. I'm still looking for the light to go off in my head though on the weatherstrip attach method though... Andy

    Weatherstrip Window Guide Clip Install

So, a small rivet with the protruding side under the weatherstripping works ok?

Reinstall of Roof Rail Weatherstrip Holder

Thanks guys. I talked to Don at OMS today. He gave me the exact info for the foam tape and basically the same suggestion on the caulk strips. Especially in the corner. What I wasn't going to do but now am, is remove the drip rail. Apparently there should be sealer above this piece. The way...

Replacing Trim On Interior Rear Quarters

My weatherstripping is stapled on also. Sounds like just glue is one method used.

Reinstall of Roof Rail Weatherstrip Holder

Thanks for confirming what I am seeing. Enjoyed your tutorial.  Looks exactly like where I am at.  Hard to believe this is the "water path" Ford was ok with. Couple things, I did a post a week or so ago about the coating on these rails.  Mine were really cloudy and ugly.  I was told it is...

Replacing Trim On Interior Rear Quarters

Looking for methods used to attach new Windlace and the Window Weatherstrips to my rear interior quarter panels. Obviously re-stapling them isn't the easiest preferred method. What's the way to go?

Reinstall of Roof Rail Weatherstrip Holder

While replacing my Weatherstrip Window Guides in the previous post, the foam tape on the back of the aluminum piece that holds the roof rail weatherstripping is destroyed and old. I noticed that the actual roof drip rail is just screwed up into position.  This is above the aluminum...

    Weatherstrip Window Guide Clip Install

So I'm sure someone out there has replaced these.  It seems the best attachment method would be the flat type rivets that were used originally. I'm really only familiar with pot rivets which would protrude out to much. What's the best method? What has worked for you?

Ashtray, Rear, 1972 Sports Interior Option

I have another member who contacted me.  Waiting for pictures from him.  I am looking for both pieces.  Lid is busted off of mine. I didn't even know what it looked like until SECLUFF picture. I am doing a full interior resto, original. I don't need a show quality one, but a nice one would...

Ashtray, Rear, 1972 Sports Interior Option

I'm looking for the rear ashtray that goes in the rear seat quarter section. Not the center console ashtray. Anybody know if the ashtray is limited to 1972?  or other years?

    Refinishing/Restoring Aluminum Roof Rail Trim

Oh, boy. Thanks, I think.  Kinda what I figured.  Sounds like a bit of work.  Maybe the only real option.  Paint is outta the question.  The anodizing either comes off, or sits there and looks bad.

    Refinishing/Restoring Aluminum Roof Rail Trim

The trim that holds the roof rail weatherstrip seems to be a coated aluminum. Mine needs help.  The "coating" is chipping off in some spots. 3 weeks ago I posted about the metal window glides that are attached to the upper roof rail, underneath the roof rail weatherstripping.  At the time, I...
