Andy, the ash tray was available 71-73. Was standard on the Grande, and was included when an upgraded interior such as the Interior Décor or Mach 1 Sport Interior was ordered. The replacement ash tray was offered in two different pieces. The ash receptacle (C5AZ-6230702-A) is easier to find since it was also used in other Ford product lines. The retainer/lid (D1ZZ-6530714-A) is a little more difficult since it was specific to the 71-73 Mustangs and Cougars. Unless your looking for Concours level parts, I would check with Don @ OMS or Mike @ Motor City Mustang and see if they have any used ones that would work. They are on E-bay occasionally, but the NOS Lids are rare.

Thank you.  Excellent detailed info.

Andy, your certainly welcome. It takes a "Village" to figure these beasts out. Like I posted before, these cars were "Screwed" together with thousands of parts and trying to figure them out 40+ years later can be quite a task. But I along with many others here enjoy doing the research.

Which of the two pieces did you need and were you looking for driver or show quality parts? Rich indicated he had a ash receptacle so that sounds like a good start!

I have another member who contacted me.  Waiting for pictures from him.

I am looking for both pieces.  Lid is busted off of mine. I didn't even know what it looked like until SECLUFF picture.

I am doing a full interior resto, original.

I don't need a show quality one, but a nice one would be nice.

I you have access to one, keep me in mind...

Thanks

Andy, just let me know what turns up. The retainer in my picture is one of my NOS pieces for Money Pit #2's restoration. I may have one from my Pewter Mach 1 (Pit #1) when I replaced some interior pieces a few years back.   :)
