351 Cleveland running hot at idle.

I just bought one from Summit Racing at summitracing .com. It's made by a company in California called FlowKooler. I checked with them to see which one I should get. If the restrictor plate, at the bottom of the thermostat cavity, is in good shape the you can use # 133 180. If it is missing or...

Parts For Sale WTB Autolite 4300 D carburetor

I'll chime in with what I learned about Autolite 4300 carbs. They were designed to help meet emission standards and therefore were calibrated very lean. Owners would take back 4300 equipped cars to dealers complaining of surging and poor drive ability. I actually used one on my 289 bracket...

    351C engine ID?

Just because it has that casting number doesn't necessarily mean it's a 4-bolt main. Ford had a tendency to use what ever was available at the time of the build. Only clear way to tell is to drop the pan. I respectably disagree that a two bolt main is as strong as a 4 bolt. Why would Ford...

    Kind of ruined

Sacrilege!! I "ruined" a 1968 Mustang back in the '80s. It was my bracket beast that I eventually back halved to install some wider tires for improved traction. That 289 engine put out some torque I'm hear to tell ya!:LOL::LOL::LOL::LOL:

Just remember these 2 axioms as you ponder your path. You can't put a price on a good time. Too much is never enough!😁😁😁

    Gear Vendors Overdrive

Thanks for the input. Interesting alternative for sure. But being a paleo-centric kind of guy I believe I'll stick with the C6. Thanks for taking the time to share.

    Gear Vendors Overdrive

Thanks for the info! Been knocking around the idea since I'm going to be using 3.70 gears and have to drive on highways as well get to some places.

    Ford C6 Transmission

They may be getting that confused with the C4 which are removable. A very well informed mechanic friend said there were no C6s that came from the factory with removable bellhousings. The C6 was manufactured in Sharonville, Oh. I was selling that plant their welding supplies in the nineties...

    71 Mustang Mach 1 - 351C automatic transmission question

Not familiar with the AOD. But the C6 is like an anvil. Rebuild parts are still available.

Pulling the trigger on my 351C rebuild

I don't know what makes you think you're such an authority on Comp Cams. Having used their products for over 30 years I can vouch for their products and support services for all of my FORD products. Whether it was my Ford NHRA Stocker, Ford Super Gas Mustang, Ford 460 equipped RV, or Ford...

    Intake swap on 4V 351C

The Edelbrock Performer is NOT just an aluminum version of the cast iron intake. It has been proven ad nauseum to be an improvement over stock. If someone had bothered to LOOK it is obvious the two are not the same! Performer was designed to enhance lower RPM power & torque.

    Machine shop question

Shouldn't be an issue. If they are that picayune about it, find another machine shop.

    Rear Main Seal

Very tough to find quality engine shops these days. Many have gone by the wayside. We have lost our share around Cincinnati but luckily still have a few competent shops to get work done. Sounds like your not that fortunate.
