    Waking up a 6

Weak / irregular blinker and hazard operation

It's a capacitor, and yes, they work for EMI caused by the ignition, generator/alternator, flasher, windshield wiper motor, and heater fan motor. They were a popular add-on aftermarket item back when most people listened to AM radios and their car didn't come with one from the manufacturer.

    71-73 Mustang Printed Circuits Illustrations

I had originally posted this in the general forum section. I made a couple of minor corrections and added a picture of the instrument voltage regulator and decided to post it in the tutorial section (where I should have posted it in the first place).

    New Cardone PS pump leaking

You need a puller that will clamp around the groove on the pulley hub. This one should work: https://www.harborfreight.com/pulley-remover-and-installer-set-12-piece-63068.html This one seems a little better rated and even looks better in the pictures...

    351C 2V Heads Help

With that camshaft your dynamic compression ratio is probably around 8:1, so that shouldn't be causing pinging. I don't have the cam specs, so this is a guess. I agree with the others, read your spark plugs, check for intake manifold leaks and other vacuum leaks. Make sure your carburetor isn't...

Where is the rear differential fluid access plug? '73 convertible, Q-code automatic, 3.25 rear gears

Some of the 9-inch housings had the fill plug in the back of the housing. I believe these were the earlier housings. The carriers that came with these did not have a fill plug on the front driver's side. It's possible to wind up with a later housing and an early carrier and neither one has a...

Interesting video about Cleveland heads oil drain back

Thanks for these pictures, they confirm what I thought, the 2V and 4V pans are the same size, with the 4V getting the scraper. This also explains why both pans use the same dipstick.

Interesting video about Cleveland heads oil drain back

Yes, that is correct. Here are the part numbers from the MPC. The 4 barrel 351Cs used the same pan, the Boss (351 Spec) used a different length dipstick

    Need Block Mounting Brackets

Have you thought about a 6R80 transmission? A lot stronger than an AOD and adapters are now available. That's what I'm leaning towards now that AODs and AODE/4R70Ws are getting hard to find. https://transmissionadapters.com/collections/ford/products/fo1002501-429-460-to-modular-transmission

Engine machine shop or more specifically, head work

Many years ago I had a '64 F100 that I swapped a '72 390 and C6 into (the 292 Y block and T98 went into a '55 Willys 4x4 wagon). When it started running like crap, after 5 or 6 years, I pulled the heads. The valve seats had recessed so much the valves couldn't seat. This engine had never been...

    New leafs

Before you spend too much time wishing for a 3" exhaust you might want to look at this Engine Masters episode where they compared 2-1/2" and 3" exhausts. Not much difference for a 350 c.i. engine. The mufflers make a huge difference...

    Top loader synchro replacement

I agree with Hemi, do a complete rebuild. Worn bearings can cause the same symptoms as worn synchro rings. Plus, it just makes good sense to do it while it's apart. The extra cost of the bearings is cheap insurance.

    Loctite on curb idle screw

If stretching the spring doesn't work, use either blue or green Loctite, they will be easy enough to break the bond when you need to adjust it, and have a high enough operating range for under hood use. The advantage to using green is that it penetrates into the connection, doesn't require...

I believe that because use conical lug nuts is another indication they are lug centric. You might try scrolling down to the question-and-answer section for that wheel and asking them.

What is Factory Torque Rating for M code?

Everything I have shows the '70 and '71 4V heads with the same volume, 62.8cc. However, I have always questioned this, because the same resources show the 351C Boss head having 66.1cc, which doesn't make sense that the Boss head, with a lower dynamic compression ratio due to the more aggressive...

    Engine Dimensions

The other day a post referenced an older thread that had questions about the physical sizes of Ford engines. Here is a chart that I got from Hot Rod several years ago that appears to be fairly accurate. I compared these dimensions to others that I have and they seem to be consistent. The width...
