    351 engine tear down

Some updates. Engine is almost achieved, almost ready to get into the bay. It took me time, in between went through different personnal problems, but at least, the project goes on. Now put a new kit on to the C6, as I wanted to swap from automatic to manual, but change my mind for different...

Assembly reference for finishing 351 cleveland long block?

Thanks for the information! Did you use the valley pan under your intake manifold ? I have the choice to reinstall the factory 750CFM carb with the heavy cast iron intake manifold, or an aluminium Edelbrock Performer LB 351-4V, with a 600 or 650 CFM Holley carb.

Continuing to rebuilt the engine. I coundn't close the factory oil pan, cause the new pump I received was a high volume one, so I had to order another pump. Next step, heads, hydraulic flappers, push rods, rocker arms...

Door alignment, which hinge to adjust

That's remind me how I first mount the door, alone, but then still need to adjust it. Please don't laugh... I will use the same system to try to adjust, attach the door on the roof, loose the bolts, play with the strap then tight the bolts.

    351 engine tear down

Well, I just have to file, it's a patient game. I did a test on the first ring that will go to cylinder number 1, I have to go slowly, I almost exceeded the maximum tolerance. Rome is a beautiful city, we know why :)

    351 engine tear down

Today I started to look at the next step, which is the rings cut. On the original pistons, the first ring is marked with a dot for the assembly. I looked at the new rings, with +0.030" because the block has been re-bored, and the mark is on the compression ring. There is no mark on the first...

    351 engine tear down

At the rate I'm going, the engine should be reassembled within a decade, by which time we'll be running on what, hydrogen? Well, the crankshaft is fitted, I've coated the journals well with Red Lube, and won't forget to put Permatex Supra Black on the rear bearing to prevent any oil leaks. A...
