    460 Rear Main Seal Installation

My understanding is the aftermarket 2 piece rear main seals are not be made to the proper dimensions. In essence, one or both halves of the seal are too long so when installed are not properly sealing. The solution I have read is to file each seal such that the end extends .010-.020 past the end...

    Throttle cable

I solved this problem by using an aftermarket throttle cable bracket that allows adjustment of the cable mounting point. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/aed-6601bk

    Primary holes drilled

Does the QF carb have a choke on it? If it does that is the likely cause of the rich on start up condition. If it cleans up after it warms up and the transition slot exposure is correct putting holes in the butterflies isn't going to do anything for you.

    Timing frustrations

On most vacuum secondary Holley carbs, the transfer slots are higher in the bore on the secondary side than they are on the primary side. That is why you had to open the secondary butterflies so far in order to get the slots to show. The advice regarding transfer slot exposure only applies to...

    C6 ruined by 393C

When you bolt the transmission to the engine you need to make sure the converter is not in a bind. You should be able to move the converter back and forth at least 1/8" to 3/16" before bolting it to the flexplate. If the converter does not have free play you will either damage the front pump on...

    port dimensions

What were the expectations based on? Sometimes the dual plane intakes can be squirrelly with aggressive cam profiles. I don't know how directly comparable port cross section may be from one intake to another or one engine platform to another. Distribution is what needs to be tuned for. I know I...

    Engine running crummy

Sometimes you just need to replace the o-ring on the seat to cure the overflow problem.

    Keep it original?

IMO replacing valve seats isn't going to hurt the value of the car. BTW you should also replace the failure prone original valves while your in there. On a low mileage original car, deleting the emissions equipment may diminish the value in many buyer's eyes.

    Timing frustrations

Not to derail your thread because I know this can be a controversial subject, but... ...since the power valve provides fuel to the main circuit, whether it is open or closed it has no effect on idle a/f mixture. My advice is don't get sidetracked with the power valve. Focus on the other issues...

    Timing frustrations

Over the years it seems a fair number of theses mystery low vacuum issues turn out to be from an internal vacuum leak caused by a failure of the bottom of the intake gasket either from incorrect angles between the head and intake, oil contamination or loose bolts.. Once you have completely...

    Cam Swap 351C 2V

I did mine in car. Remove the radiator and grille and it comes right out through the core support. Took me a weekend working on and off. Probably 10-12 hours total. If you have other things you want to do like fixing leaks or detailing the engine bay or engine it makes sense to take the engine out.

2 barrel to 4 barrel conversation 351 cleveland

The fuel line will need to be re-worked. Vacuum hoses and PVC line will need some re-work too. Does your carb have a factory solenoid still attached? If so you will need to figure out a way to mount that as well. I am not sure if Edelbrock makes a bracket for that purpose or not. Holley...
