Edelbrock carbs: what does "Ford Kickdown: No" mean?

Here are three Holleys I’m considering: Warrior, Demon or Classic. I think I’m going with Holley as they seem to have nailed the Ford trans kickdown. As best I can tell, all the Holley are square bore necessitating a square-to-spread adaptor ($29-$70). Third in the list has dual inlets...

Edelbrock carbs: what does "Ford Kickdown: No" mean?

Thanks for that tip. Haven't decided on carb yet.

Edelbrock carbs: what does "Ford Kickdown: No" mean?

I understand the idea but I don't have the resources to pull this off. It's only stripped enough to keep from making a secure connection so wouldn't the carb need to be pulled, the inlet expanded then an insert inserted? Who would I talk to about that...?

Edelbrock carbs: what does "Ford Kickdown: No" mean?

I'm not wedded to Edelbrock but they do get a strong endorsement in other comment threads. I'm glad I asked about the kickdown - it's pointing me in other directions.

Edelbrock carbs: what does "Ford Kickdown: No" mean?

Good thinking but as it turns out... my buddy that works on his own cars is an Edelbrock fan. That's a plus, even if he's a Chevy guy.

Edelbrock carbs: what does "Ford Kickdown: No" mean?

Thx - I know how they work, I was just hoping there was some other kickdown rod they meant, not for the trans. I'm calling the Edelbrock tech team tomorrow.

Edelbrock carbs: what does "Ford Kickdown: No" mean?

Not that I know of... Were you suggesting they look at my 4300D? I'm bailing because the fuel filter inlet is stripped. I don't see a fix for that. And if I do go with the Edelbrock, do I need the Edelbrock Hot Idle Solenoid kit?

Edelbrock carbs: what does "Ford Kickdown: No" mean?

I'm bailing on my 4300D and looking at the "Edelbrock AVS2 Series Carburetors 1906". '73 351C-4V. Just a cruising car; no racing and I want reliability. Under the specs it says "Ford Kickdown: No" and I'm not understanding the implications. Is this the transmission downshift? Does no...

P/S pump replacement a dud -- what now?

I wanted to keep my original so I sent it out for rebuild. For what I went though, I'd have been better off acquiring the necessary tools and doing it myself because the pump I got back *was not mine*. The fluid connections were way different. It took two attempts (and about 6 months) to get...

P/S pump replacement a dud -- what now?

I replaced the P/S pump because the original was leaking. Sure, could have had it rebuilt instead but my first go-around with that was far from successful. So, a new pump this time. I thought I followed the new pump procedure of turning the wheel 1/3rd left and 1/3rd right several times while...

Soliciting thoughts on changing paint color

That's definitely where I'm at: faded and milky, with a few spots it's been rubbed to nearly bare metal on top of a very poor repaint. The sport decor trim looks like it was put on with a crayon.

Soliciting thoughts on changing paint color

I'm still a ways from actually approaching a new paint job but I‘ve been pondering a color change when I do. Original is a (very faded) 6E-Medium Bright Yellow, black decor striping with a black (convertible) black top and black interior. I’m not concerned about 100% original although I‘ve been...

New seat covers with Comfortweave have arrived!

You can tell pretty much if you get a hi-res photo of the "new" Comfortweave and zoom in. It's just molded into a pattern on the solid vinyl, but it is still just solid vinyl.

New seat covers with Comfortweave have arrived!

SMS said the Comfortweave weaving machine was being restored and that new material would be made. Delays in delivering product were due to getting the machine reliably restored. I have no way to confirm that and communications with them were difficult enough that I really don't care to find out...
