Hi and thanks for the feedback, Backs up what i suspected about this paint being an industrial coatings product, and so, not really suited for the auto refinish/ oem factory auto lines. Greg

Hi tpj, In more detail, do you recall how the paint finish performed in regards to fine sanding plus cutting and polishing back in the day when you used that brand/ product? EG - did you find it very hard to sand, plus machine cut and polish the paint film? Sounds like that was the case. Greg.

HEY ALL YOU AUSSIES. Trying to find someone in OZ land

Hi there, Sorry, i haven't heard of that guy. I live in Brisbane, but the Mustang community in general reaches out around Oz. Try contacting the Mustang owners club in Sydney. They may be of some help. Hoping other Aussie Forum members may be of help too. Greg.

Hi there Mr. Rush, Yes, i think i do! :) My Australian experience should be very similar to the US one. I started my four year auto spray painting apprenticeship back in 1976. Back then when it came to refinishing autos, acrylic lacquer and single stage air dry enamels were the go to products...

AUSTIN VERT TAKES A WIDER VIEW

Hi to all Forum Folk, I decided to do this write up as it has benefited me and will be of good benefit to some other Forum members as well. OK, we are all aware, that whatever '71 to '73 Mustang model you drive, good outside vision from the rear quarters back on all sides is not all that good...

AUSTIN VERT'S NEW REVERSE CAMERA PROJECT

Hi Tony, Thanks for your feedback. I must say that i have not had that issue you speak of with the wireless capturing the feed at all. In my case, my model has an adjustable time auto cut off feature, so once initially activated, my monitor shuts down after a max of 120 seconds, and does not...

AUSTIN VERT'S NEW REVERSE CAMERA PROJECT

Hi Eric, Sorry to hear about your back issues, but i guess you are doing all you can to deal with it all. Back issues are really no fun at all, and spoil our enjoyment of life. I suffer now from lower lumbar back pains on a day to day basis. My issues are muscular related. Physios can't seem to...

    convertible interior recommendation needed

Hi again CJ, To be honest, i am aware of a few reputable brands of rust paints out there, but Rustoleum is the only brand i have used a little, only in rattle can form. It's overall performance was acceptable but average. Try looking into Por15 and Rust Bullet products. I believe their...

AUSTIN VERT PARK BRAKE LIGHT ALTERNATIVE.

Hi Folks, Came up with this idea many years ago to get around the problem of not being able to buy a decent repro Mustang park brake pilot light for the dash. My idea probably won't be welcomed by the people who insist on sticking to originality parts for their Stangs. That's OK and that's your...

    convertible interior recommendation needed

Hi CJ, To answer your question about achieving a good colour match for the interior quarter panels in ginger, i can only repeat myself by advising that the best way to get a close match for the ginger, is to approach a good local spray shop and get them to make up a quantity of acrylic lacquer...

AUSTIN VERT'S NEW REVERSE CAMERA PROJECT

Hi to all, INTRO: So after all these years, i figured it was time to get a reversing camera. They come in a variety of styles, brands and applications these days. Some models feature a windscreen rear vision mirror setup, some feature a one din flip up radio head with built in rear camera...

AUSTIN VERT SOLVES A SEAT BELT PROBLEM

Hi Geoff, Thanks for your reply. Yes, i should have mentioned that my short length belt problem is more related to those, like myself who own a Convertible and had to go through the process of converting over to a 3 point, lap and sash style setup. As you say, seat belts that have a problem of...

AUSTIN VERT SOLVES A SEAT BELT PROBLEM

Hi Folks, I don't think this topic has been dealt with before, but if so sorry. I'll jump right in anyway. When it comes to seat belt discussions regarding our '71's, '72's and '73's, it kind of opens up a can of worms as to a mixture of what brands, styles, types, colors are out there in a...

AUSTIN VERT - NICE MONEY ON THE RED ON RED '72

Hi to all, Just spotted this most recent sale listed on Hemmings. Went for $46,200 US. Not bad and a decent car. That same car if bought from Australia say, would cost you close to $90,000.00 Australian landed based on today's international costings (import taxes, currency exchanges, shipping...

Where are all these cars coming from all of a sudden?

Hi there, IMO, i think our 1,2,3's have been sleepers regards public popularity for many years. However, of late, the tides have turned, and now have found their place as a great respected popular classic car. Because selling values have risen quite well over the last decade, this has attracted...

    A Pretty Dumb Question...

Hi Eric, Yeah, this topic is open for large lashings of added humor. I had a new Robbins top installed several years ago, and the black pinpoint fabric by design is thick, stiff and rigid. Reminds me of me many years ago. You may recall going back around 10 years or so ago, this exact...

    A Pretty Dumb Question...

All good Jake, Might pay to think about your hydraulics as well (pistons and lines), as to what condition they might be in. If they are original, it might pay you to consider upgrading the whole system as well as just the motor itself. Just a friendly suggestion there. Greg:)

    A Pretty Dumb Question...

Hi Jake, The guys above have got it covered pretty well. Unzipping/zipping was always a recommended option before you dropped or lowered your top, but at the same time, was not mandatory, and could be avoided if you so chose, without any glass damage happening. The owner always had an option...
