Hi to all Forum Folk,
I decided to do this write up as it has benefited me and will be of good benefit to some other Forum members as well.
OK, we are all aware, that whatever '71 to '73 Mustang model you drive, good outside vision from the rear quarters back on all sides is not all that good. Blind spots are a problem with our cars.The reasons why should be obvious, and one of the main offenders are the factory sports mirrors for the drivers and passengers doors. Both mirrors glasses are fairly small by design, but the housing shapes are super sleek and cool looking for sure. The end result here, is because of this factor, it makes it difficult to get good wide vision to your left and right rear sides and a decent rear perspective as well. All models have wide C pillars and the hard tops rear low angle sloping glass is a rear vision killer. The rear view mirror on the front screens is adequate but is fairly limited by design as well. Convex passenger's side sports mirror glass options help, but are still limited compared to modern day big side mirror glasses.
So basically, i decided for the first time, to delve into the old concept of hunting down and trying out one of those add on curved, wide angle rear view windscreen mirrors. Yes, they've been around for donkey's years, and have never really taken on with the general public. So here is my review and feedback on the product i bought. OK, first up, wow!, this wide angled mirror is fantastic, and is a real game changer in my opinion. I guess the biggest benefit is for us Convertible folk, as when the tops are dropped, you get the most uninterrupted field of vision, and the blind spots are eliminated. In all other cases, this mirror will still be of good help to improve your blind spot issues. Living in Australia, i went for a local supplier for purchase (see link ), but i have popped in a link to very similar products sold in the US. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/395222444896

So my review is ......................................... 1. Good points. Greatly improved rear and side visions. Quality of mirror glass is OK or passable. Use your existing rear view mirror for mounting. Factory sun visors don't inter fear when folded down. Big 17 inch/ 43.18 cms wide convex mirror. Still get to use the original rear view mirror night flipper lever that helps with rear head light glare. Good dynamic left/right/up/down adjustment to custom dial in your preferred captured vision angle. Overall look front and back is not too bad. Overall quality is OK, passable. Price is ok as well.
2. Not so good points. The screw on mounting procedure was fiddly and took several attempts to mount on properly. When looking straight back, cars appear to be further away than they are in reality (that can be off putting). Given that this is a much bigger mirror, some real estate vision is lost looking out the front screen. When mounting, and screwing down into final position, make sure that the metal brackets don't come into contact with the original mirror glass. For those drivers that have already utilized their rear view mirrors for other things like rear view cameras, accident front view cameras, or any other devices, this wide view mirror will not be for them. BTW - the grey colored VIA tag mounted above the new wide mirror, is a auto satellite type device to auto charge you each time you enter a toll road. (more Gov taxation for using so called public roads)
So, my final conclusion is that for me, this upgrade was worth doing, and i will benefit well from having the product in use. It adds up to a more safer, easier ride for me. Well worth considering i think. See my pics below for the wide angled mirror.
