1973 Mach 1 Hood Paint Question

Gents-

I know my 1971-2 paint schemes better than the 1973's. My first car was a 1972 Mach 1. I know about the hockey stripes and the lower stainless trim rules, ram air and hood lock combinations, etc. BUT when it comes to 1973's, (and this is littered through the forums, but lost in huge threads!) was the black or argent hood option available, without ram air and the requisite hood locks? I do seem to see a LOT more 1973's painted that way as a % of the total than I do 1971-2's. I just need to know for ascertaining originality and clost to original restorations. Many thanks! Please keep responses pertaining to just 1973's if possible.

In 1973 you could order a separate option called Tu Tone Hood Paint which included the black or argent hood for $18.00. This option also included the factory hood locks.

You could have the hood paint option on a non ram air car. Here is a pic of my original paint 73 back in 83.

(Edit: just noticed mine has the requisite locks)

Like has been stated the black or argent hood and hood locks were a package and could not be added without both. I have original 73 Mach 1 I bought new. That option was the best deal for $18.00 for sure, $15.26 dealer cost.

There was only one side stripe in 73 for the Mach 1 the wide one. The coupe and vert could be ordered with the Decor Group and get the side stripe like the 72 had. All of this would show up on a Marti.
