Saw a beautiful green 71 Challenger R/T convertable at last weekend's car show. The owner said the spoiler on it was original to the car but to me it looked exactly like the spoiler I have on my 71 Mach1. Did Dodge and Ford use the same spoilers during that period?

Car companies buy alot of different parts from vendor companies that also supply other brands of cars. Ford couldn't possibly make all parts from scratch. A spoiler is a low production item so it would make sense to buy them from a vendor,,,that also may have supplied Dodge.

I don't think so

Lots of dealers added things like spoilers making them "original" to the cars, but a Ford part would carry a ford part number and a patent or such. It sure looks like our spoilers

Magnum 500's yes, spoilers doubt it

To the best of my knowledge, Mustang convertibles and couples did not come factory equipped with rear spoilers. I would think other makes were the same.

So I would question the "original to the car" statement. Stranger things have happened...

Of course dealers would do whatever as long as the price was right.

So far - I've never seen a Marti report showing a rear spoiler on a 71-3 Mustang convertible or coupe.

The spoiler you show does look very much like our spoilers.

That one looks like it is an odd position and too small

Ford ones have the P/N on the stands C9 for 69 - 70

D1 for 71-3

Spoiler widths and overall length was different

Have had mopar spoilers on Mustangs over the years [ 2 ]

Mopar ones were wider, taller and had numbers on there stands 910#### if I remember right

Mopar ones also bring in 3 times the money

They look the same constuction wise, might have been the same manufacturer, just made to Ford / Mopars specifications.

omg...I mite have a dodge spoiler on my car..hehe Mine came from factory with a spoiler...But some one stuck on a wider taller one that is adjustible.I can see the old holes in my truck and how they stuck wider fin mounts on it.....I thought maybe it was a replacment...but heck now ill have too check the numbers on it..Its a real old one too..I use to think it come off a older mach 1 or something.
