There should be an overflow tube on the filler neck of the radiator that can be used. Chuck

I painted my aftermarket overflow unit all black and mounted it inside the headlight bucket, right behind the driver headlight. Nearly invisible...maintains the stock look.

Excellent advice, guys! ::thumb::

I got a black plastic Moroso bottle/kit from Summit, and I'm struggling with exactly where to put it. I have an aftermarket A/C system (Classic Auto Air) and the dryer is in the best place (I feel) to put the thing. To complicate matters further, I also have a high-pressure fuel tank going in for the Edelbrock fuel injection system. As big as those engine compartments are, the empty space sure has gotten gobbled up by everything that's gone back in there. ::huh:::

But my question remains, do you need to run a vented cap? I just used 2 holes that were on my rad core support, put 2 j-nuts in them, fabbed a bracket to bolt it to, then bolted the bracket to the 2 j-nuts. Its next to my driver side headlight bucket.

A regular 15lb cap is all you need.

When the fluid in the cooling system heats up, it expands, causing the pressure to build up. The cap is the only place where this pressure can escape, so the setting of the spring on the cap determines the maximum pressure in the cooling system. When the pressure reaches 15 psi, the pressure pushes the valve open, allowing coolant to escape from the cooling system. This coolant flows through the overflow tube into the bottom of the overflow tank. This arrangement keeps air out of the system. When the radiator cools back down, a vacuum is created in the cooling system that pulls open another spring loaded valve, sucking water back in from the bottom of the overflow tank to replace the water that was expelled.

So, the Moroso bottle I have is not part of a coolant recovery system, per se, but rather just an overflow bottle. There's only the hose on the top and a petcock to drain out the bottom.
