Air Cleaner Temp. Sensor

Never heard of this air cleaner temperature sensor. What was it used for back in the days (i.e. what did it control)?
The switch in the air cleaner controlled a valve in the snorkel.

Below a certain ambient temp and you got heated air from the

exhaust manifold though the snorkel. When the engine warmed

up the valve in the snorkel would now close/open and you got direct

air flow through the snorkel.

The eBay picture does not show the clip, was that included?

Anyone with a heated snorkel needs one of these. Oddly,

the valves motor is easy to find. The switches are not.

You have a good point, his advertisement doesn't show the clips and would be something I'd check before ordering. The one I ordered from the seller about a year ago did come with the round clips and the round sponge like (insulator ?) to put under it.
