Alternator bolt length

Still trying to undo the PO's handy work. The pivot (top) bolt for the alternator has a spacer between the head and the alternator, then a stack of washers and a lug nut between the alternator and block. I am guessing that the bolt was too long. What is the correct length for a 302 cu. in. alternator top bolt?

I believe it is 5 1/2 inches. The kit is available from AMK restoration fasteners and other re-sellers. About $20.00 and includes the spacer, all the bolts, and a washer. Chuck
