First car 351 H Code 73 Mach 1 totalled in college
So I was checking out the craigslist ads and saw this one:

Notice the Red 71 mach 1 quarter? I texted the guy and asked if the mach was for sale and he said yes for $10k. I ask if it had a 429 or did he not really want to sell it. He replied it has a cleveland and auto and he was driving it then just stopped. He has way too many projects to work on it. He also has two 66 coupes. he wants $5k for the pair with no engines. All three need floorpans.

He sent a photo of interior, standard black no fold down shorty console and it is a C6.

I wouldn't think twice about asking for $10k if all the original parts are their. Especially if it had one of these:

Well I should ask $10k for my 73 because I personally wrapped the steering wheel! LOL The Red one not the Blue one, so since it is red that adds another $5k!

Mine is still on the wheel and has been there since the mid-70's. I was thinking about taking it off and seeing what the wheel looks like under there.

I took mine off, the steering wheel is in horrible shape. Probably restoreable but it's amazingly discolored and it has a couple cracks.

I don't think there are any cracks in the red Mach's steering wheel. But Man the wheel is so thin without a wrap and even with it it doesn't compare to the nice thick wheel in the Flex. Even my 07 GT Wheel feels small after the Flex.

Appears to me the car set in water just below the hood for a period of time...it sure looks like your typical water line on the drivers side of the car to me??? Plus none of the cars, storage shed or other items have it, which would means it's not the weather conditions (wind mold)causing the build up on the side of the car, it happened some where else. I would check the car out very closely for flood damages.

A shame - nice DAF clone car. Obviously a repaint, but I'd be curious if it's an early VIN car - quite a few of the red/black Mach 1's (which this might be, originally) w/o striping (has the molding) were early production press cars.

Why do you say it is a repaint?

I second the repaint question

Want to add -

what is a DAF clone car ?

Why do you say it is a repaint?
Just looked at the photos again - you're right, it isn't. I thought the black paint on the hood was split between the two intakes; just realized it's faded off at the nose.

DAF = Diamonds are Forever.

One thing you fellows could answer for me though - would a standard Sportsroof have been available with the black accents and lower moulding, or was this Mach 1-exclusive territory?

-Kurt

Sorry, one of the local Craigslisters has the whole lot beat:

http://miami.craigslist.org/mdc/atq/3529774130.html

$8,700, "pristine condition," Bondo marks everywhere, missing trim, primer overspray on EVERYTHING, no shock tower struts (why doesn't that surprise me?), and guaranteed to be 10 times worse than the car that started this thread by virtue of the fact that it looks like it's been "restored" (read = screwed up) by every hammer-wielding idiot in town.

Check this one out!

Is the cat included? Subs in rear deck and the front seats are really cool...not

I thought that at first until I looked at the pictures a second time.

No Sportsroof with lower black out other than Boss and mach
