Early 1970's Oil Crisis

When people talk about the sales of earlier Mustangs and then the comparison to same for our cars, there are many differences. The overall auto industry had learned a lot since 1964 and the intro. Even Ford had popped up some other similar offerings to capture sales.

And remember our cars were designed a few years before they were actually produced. I think they began about 1968... THe old styling buck and clay model pics will show. (can't get to them right now...) Things were quite a bit different then! Ford was very successful in auto racing. Then they killed the program about November 1970!

But I believe the oil supply issues and its related gasoline shortages hit hardest on the 'ponycars' of the early 70's.

I remember the "odd" and "even" days for getting gas depending on the last digit of your license plate.

I remember here in Europe for a while nobody was allowed to drive at all on Sundays and people would go for a walk or ride their bicycles on the freeways.
