Electric window motor removal

Does anyone have any experience removing the electric window motor on a 71 mach 1 ? I have the door panel off (passanger side) and took the 2 visible bolts holding the motor out. It doesn't move and I'm not sure how to release it from the gears so I can remove it. The window would not always go all the way up or down without a little help.

Don't take the motor out without having the window propped up with something.


I think there are three bolts to remove and disconnect the wire connector. Make sure you have the window propped and it should pull right out.

Thanks. I found there are actually four bolts. Two holding the motor and two holding the gear assembly, which is attached to the motor. I ordered a new gear and hopefully it won't be a problem putting everything back.

A new gear will not fix a lazy window...bad gear would make a popping noise. You are going to need a motor.

Well it's back as good as new. Not as bad putting it back as I thought it would be.
