Took the car out yesterday to kill some bugs and I didn't realize how reflective my dash is until I hooked up my GoPro. You can see how much it reflects onto the windshield limiting view. I used a black matte paint but looks like I'll need to take it back off and use a flat black. I also screwed up and waxed my once perfect matte hood and now it shines which also is reflective on a sunny day. The antenna isn't bent, it's the wide angle shot, plus audio is off because Youtube compressed the files. The compression of the files also make it appear the car is going faster than it is, no speed limits were violated!

Notice the dash reflection restricting view.

I made the same mistake of waxing my hood 20 years ago when I first bought it. I still kick myself for being so uneducated at the time. As for the dash, mine is quite reflective as well. I found a fitted dash carpet from jc Whitney ( I think) years ago. Works great for daily driving and can be removed at shows.

Yeah, my dash pad is a also reflective. Worst part is when I drive in the sun and the road ahead is in the shadows. Then it's really impossible to see where I'm going at all.

I'm looking for a piece if astro turf or something similar that is big enough to cover the whole top the dash.

OK... First of all, I would like to say that I miss living in Washington. I really enjoyed driving up and down the back roads of the Olympic Peninsula. Second. I really miss looking out over the long hood of my Mustang. I really need to get my butt in gear and get my car done.

Thanks for posting the videos. Make me feel like I was riding shotgun!

Don't worry about the shiny paint on the dash. That's an easy fix!!

Mike:

Get a black velour dash mat. That will really cut the glare down.

yup its why they made it textured(camera case) and you need a very flat paint.

some bloke, painted mine or should i say bombed mine with gloss, when i redid my interior i chemically stripped the metal and reshot it with semi flat black. i actually made sure to get some dry overspray on it to try and get it a little flatter.
