My Car
1971 Mustang Convertible, factory 302, disc brakes and A/C. Started to rebuild it all original but elected to go full tilt and rebuilt everything in the drivetrain, a/c, cooling, etc. etc. etc.
Hello everyone,

I just found this site after having been a member of another less specific but similiar site for a while.

It appears that this site is going to be a lot more relevant to the questions and concerns that I have with my 1971 convertible.

I purchased it about 2 years ago with the intent of keeping everything original because the car was in almost show condition.

Well that idea didn't last too long so now it has been totally rebuilt mechanically from radiator to exhaust.

The attached pictures are of the car after I purchased it and before any rebuilding began.

Regardless, I hope to glean some knowledge from members and share information. if I can be of any help please give me a shout.

::welcome:: from East Tn. I was stationed at Shaw AFB for about 6 years some time back. Still have good friends in the area and pass through Columbia at least once a year

nice ride, welcome there are alot of great guys that will be able to help with what ever they know, and hands down this is the best site and the best bunch of car guys you will ever find...

Welcome from Rhode Island.

this site is a great place for information for these cars, any question you have you will find an answer here.

P.S I like the color

Looks nice not sure what you needed to do to it. Only thing I would get rid of the non stiock speakers, but that is just me. Myslef and my friends ruined cars like that when we were in high school.

You will see what I've done to her as soon a I get time to upload more pics. To answer some of your questions or observations.

I got rid of the 14 Crager Uni-lugs, I will never put a uni-lug on a car, they stink. I replaced them with American Racing Torq Thrust II 16" with Goodyear GT tires.

The color is Bright Blue Metallic and the original color, I have a Marti report that I will post as soon as I figure out how. With the factory disc brakes and a/c it breaks it down to 1 of 19 and with the convienience package 1 of 4.

The 302 is now a newer model (1985 w/single rear seal) , Dart aluminum head, roller rockers, Comp. Eng. Thmpr cam etc. etc. We just broke in the camshaft a few days ago and I plan to post some video, it sounds wicked.

I am tickled to death with the how things have gone to this point and can't wait to share. I also have a lot of questions. :redlogo:

Bright Blue Metallic is arguably one of optimal colors for the 71-73 Ponies. Seems to accent the body style. Easy on the eyes. Blends wonderfully with any argent colored add ons. Hope you and family enjoy your lovely pony for many years. I wonder if the wife will eventually take it from you. Then what?

Welcome from Mustang, Oklahoma. It sounds like a very nice car. Enjoy the site. Chuck

Welcome. Great looking drop top. Not only will you find a lot more info and support here than other mustang sites, you will find a LOT more appreciation for our years.

I have the 14" crager unilugs. I have had them for 28 years... They look good but are a pain. When this set of tires wears out, I will be going with different rims.
