Good morning America,

Due to leak problems, I decided to remove the carb and open it to change the seals, I bought a few month ago the seal kit.

Looks like this carb has not been touch since his first start, seals look original.

I wonder to know if it's normal to have only 6 screws on the butterfly plate, cause I found it like that.

The power valve was a 6.5, and in the kit, from Hygrade (661A), was this one on the pic, looks like the same?

Thanks for your comments.

Manu

THanks guys, so I leave it like this, with the 6 screws.

About the metering blocks, I really don't know if they have been changed.

manu64,

As for those two inner screws, I would recommend loctite thread locker (Loctite® Threadlocker Blue 242®Nut and Bolt Locker) to keep the screws in place. This is due to what the size opening of your intake manifold.

As for the power valve. The pre 1992 Holley's were prone to bursting the power vale vacuum diaphragm. Holley makes this kit that is now standard.

I highly recommend installing this kit. This will prevent the premature power valve failure due to back fires. Also, If you can get the Blue body gaskets, they are much better when it comes time to disassemble and or rebuild and always use Genuine Holley rebuild kits. They are worth the extra bucks!

Yes I use loctite, I read this before, I don't want to loose crews in the intake manifold.

Next time I will use a Holley kit.

I noticed that the "old" power valve is leaking and don't old the pressure, so I use the one from the kit.

Thx for your comments.

Now as I am working on the carburetor, and read a lot about, cause I have vaccum problems (I think I need to add 2 screws on the throttle body/body), I want to install this Check ball kit.

Is it only back fire which can destroy the power valve, or other things?
