I had similar locking hood pins on my '68 Camaro. They looked really nice and clean. Downside was that I always hated dangling a set of keys over a nicely painted cowl hood. When I do this again, I think I'll use the push-button release version.

I have an idea for a system.

If you were to run a rod with the top end shaped like a 1/4 turn fastener/twist lock fastener and the bottom bent like an "L" for the last inch or two installed from the bottom, up thru the radiator support and up into the hood, you could install on the lower end of the rod either a catch or a small padlock etc.

You could use two if you wanted to keep it symmetrical.

You could also install a cross pin so that once installed the rod when opened would only drop an inch or so, so that if you failed to lock it, it would not fall down or drag on the ground.

I doubt anyone would know it was there, or what to look for, so even if it is just turned and fastened, but not locked, it should deter all but the more determined thieves.

At the hood, you could use a twist lock strike plate mounted over a round hole to allow adjustment

The 2 cross pins would have a spring between them and the bracket is designed to be screwed/bolted or riveted in place on the bottom of the radiator support.

The target for the top of the rod is to hit the 1 1/2 wide inner support brace on the hood.

i got mr. gasket locking hood pins on my mach 1. i placed them in the factory location.

When I was young and dumb I had a chain on my Mach 1 with a combination lock on it! Well it worked great until I broke down in the middle of the night and couldnt see to numbers on the lock!!! :?(
