Had a good friend come over to have a hurricane party today.  Had winds up to 25 mph as we watched on the radar Alberto approach us and make landfall about 4PM, at which time we lost power.  Lights came back on at 7PM, but then I realized we had a bigger problem: we were out of adult beverages!

That's no good running out like that

I spent many years living in the Northern Territory and cyclones (ours twist the other way round down under) were a common threat however we were always prepared and well stocked days prior to any threat including plenty of ice in the freezer should the power go out. By the time the cyclone was imminent the liquor stores were empty.

Pretty strong drinking culture in the top end, so much so that they once tried to start up alcoholics anonymous but it collapsed due to lack of participation!

The only time we had a drinking problem was when we run out.
