Ray, those are the exact rims I just purchased with the black paint. Isnt the part# from a 1973? D3 is translated to 1973. Arent the center cap a ford logo?OK I am schooled once again. Just proves my knowledge of the 73's is still weak at best!
Waterlife your cap is indeed correct for the slotted mag wheels for Mercury models 73 and possibly 74 and a few years more.
Similar wheels installed on Mercury Bobcat, Cougar and others.

Hey Travis, how did we get to Mercury? Isnt the symbols in the center "FORD"?I may be showing my ignorance, but I believe that the only car Mercury used the slotted mag with the 5 lug nut design, key words "5 lug nut" was the 73-74 Comet. That being said, I would think that those center caps would be kind of rare. I would sell them on eBay and then buy new re-pops for your Mustang. If I'm wrong, I'm blaming it on the cough syrup I just took.....

The caps you show in the picture are off of a Mercury. Ford used them on the Mustang with the running pony and the Maverick with the long horns. Mercury used them with the center cap you have. And that is how we got to Mercury!!!Ray, those are the exact rims I just purchased with the black paint. Isnt the part# from a 1973? D3 is translated to 1973.
