We have 5 vehicles and enough room for 4 at our house. We currently have my Mach 1 at a storage (10x25) facilty close to our house. A friend told us about a a stand alone 2 car garage (28x28) available adjacent to his property. We went and made the deal on it today. It is 1 mile from the house and has power. The best part is it is only $15 more a month than what we are currently paying and we have 3 times the space. Plenty of room to work on her.

A precautionary word about renting garages.

Thieves.

My family used to rent out a barn to boat builders. For the most part, every 6 months the builders would have their tools stolen. Over the years, I am thinking like 6-9 dogs were poisoned.

The got in through the door, the window, the wall, the roof. The only thing they couldn't do was dig their way in.

Thanks for the warning. We will be taking necessary precautions to help discourage any break ins. Luckily a really good friend of ours lives right beside the garage and he or one of his family is always home. That doesn't guarantee anything but does give some piece of mind.

Unfortunately we have to store 1 car off site as we only have room for 1 in our garage. Guess who's classic gets to stay at home. You guessed it the wife's, LOL. No matter where you store a car you are taking risks. We have taken all of the precautions we can.

Make the car difficult to take, put it up on stands (either tire or jackstands), take the battery out or at least disconnect it, put motion detectors on the lights and maybe invest in a good alarm system.
