I have the chance to purchase a clutch/brake pedal assembly for my son's '73 convertible and I need some expertise. I need some quick help/info because it's located 2 hours away and I will look at the assembly as I pass through the area tomorrow.

The assembly is out of a 71 or 72 6 cylinder car. I have read that there is a difference in brake pedals, disc, power, drum?? Can anyone give me a run down on differences, if any??

My son's car is a power disc brake car.

Thanks

I am not sure and don't know specifics but have heard there is a difference between the manual and power brake pedals. Makes sense though. The fulcrum (distance between pivot and pedal or after the pedal) should be different as you need less pressure to push on the power brakes.

IF you have a power front disc car and the doner unit is from the same then OK... IF you get all the linkage

bits with z-bar and mounts.

Beware you will be digging in deep into the dash to install it messing with the main under dash wiring harness.

This is why I opted for the repo clutch pedal from Modern Drive Line that you can add to an auto trans car

easily with the bearing kit and using a clutch cable. The pedal took a couple of 4hr days to install it wasnt bad.

MDL Parts

Pedal $275 (Beautiful part with new design for easy install)

Bearing kit $60 (Got from Scott Drake cheaper for 69-70 stang)

Pedal Pads $25

Clutch Cable $275 (Which I refused to use at that price and made my own from a 75 Jeep $60 plus $50 Swagging Tool and $12 new threaded end)

Good luck

Paul

Thanks for the info, but we won't be using a cable clutch on this one. We will be using the pedal and building a hydraulic clutch conversion for a T56.

My question concerns the brake pedal, not the clutch pedal. My son's car has power disc brakes, the clutch pedal assembly I found is from a manual brake car. What I need to know is what the difference is in a manual brake pedal and a power brake pedal and if the manual brake pedal can be easily modified to use with power brakes.

The pivot point on the brake pedal for the actuating rod is in a different location for power/non-power brakes.

I have read about this on the forum and are posts in the archives.

I don't think anyone ever said X is this or Y is that but an easy mod for someone with some

calipers and a welder IMO.

Edit; I should add that the MDL clutch pedal is a new design of the original and will work with linkage/cable/hydraulic same as the original!

Thanks for the response, I did some additional research and actually talked to the guy that wrote the Boss 351 book.....looks like I can probably relocate the brake rod pin in the manual brake pedal and use it.
