I know I've seen or hear about using the shaft from a distributor and connecting it to a drill to prime the engine before start up. I have a old pts dist. I can use, but can it be adapted without destroying it?

You would have to take it apart to where you just had the shaft.

I just use a deep socket (5/16"?) and a long extension. Tape it on so it doesn't accidentally fall off.

A 1/4" drive extension with a socket welded to the end works well. You do not want to lose the socket... don't ask how I know that. :D

i bought 1 of these things on ebay about 10 years ago and received two. like everybody else, i would do the same thing, as it is a 5/16's socket.

and BTW, it goes in REVERSE to prime the motor (at least my 460) and if you go closewise, all you will do is gargle bubbles in the oil!

:p
