Thanks for the info. Mine must be in bad shape with all the shards down in the pan. I did a quick check on the timing chain movement, and if I did the math right there's about 24 degrees of slop! Not to mention from beneath I can see at least one chipped tooth on the cam gear.

Now would be the time to change it........before it fails and you bend a valve
