Who makes the best available rear window gasket for the fastback? (the Scott Drake gasket?) (71-73's) Any NOS still available? I've heard all aftermarket gaskets for this rear window leave much to be desired. Anyone have access to the "supposed" correct closed cell foam tape and is this still a method used in 2015? (I read 72HCODE's thread, twice.)

Is this something to be insisted upon or is it just another one of those methods where "there's 5 ways to skin a cat" and I just make myself look like an ass to a professional window installer, who does all the glass installations for the very well known restoration shop that my car is at?

Obviously, I want it done right but it gets tiring, constantly trying to voice your opinion...bottom line though, no one cares about your car as much as you do so you've got to speak up.

I would also like someone's opinion on this too. I've been looking at the Scott Drake or Daniel Carpenter repros. Haven't decided which one yet.

I can only speak for the 2 at CJ's, I just recently went through all this for my car as well. I have the Scott Drake one in right now. I followed the Ford assemly manual the first time and ended up with the window in wrong. I used the foam method though. My biggest issue was getting the window in good enough to get the bright work on. I used the 1/4" by 3/4" foam on the sides and top, one continuous piece, then used a strip of 1/8" by 1/2" foam for the bottom channel, that got the window sitting flat. Then sealed everything all the way around with high viscosity urethane window sealer. I have not had any problems with this method. Oh, I didn't have any problems with either gasket, they both fit the car and window! Good luck.
