So I go to start the car this morning and the battery is dead.

The battery is a month old. Thought maybe I left the

interior lights on all night, would not be the first time :s

Have one of those jumper boxes, highly recommended, so I

started the car. Let it run a few minutes then drove to the store

to buy some beer I had a feeling I would need later. Parked the car

then came out a couple hours later, car won't start. The interior

lights worked and the blower worked but the radio had reset itself.

I tuned the radio after charging the battery and when I checked, all

the previous settings were gone. Even though the interior lights

worked and the blower, the radio was dead at this point. Unplugged

the radio and we will see if that is the problem. Will go out later and

see if there is any juice left in the battery. If the radio is at fault,

there should be juice left in the battery. If no juice, I will need

more beer.

Remove the neg battery cable, connect a test light in between the cable and the post, pull fuses until the light goes out. once the offending circuit is found, then you can trace the problem from there

It appears the radio was draining the battery, somehow.

Car starts fine now and all circuits that share the same fuse with

the radio work.

Go figure.

I have seen it happen before with radio's with a constant power wire for memory.

After starting the car and letting it idle to recharge the battery I

turned on to check the function af various components like the

blower, lights etc. The radio turned on but then shut itself off and

would not turn on again. So I pulled the plug on the radio and so

far so good. I may have gotten lucky because finding a battery drain

can be a major amount of work. There may be nothing wrong with

the radio so I will offer it on the forum for free. It is some kind of

Kenwood 4x40 w/tape and other functions.
