i agree with Austin.
immortan joe was played by Hugh Keays-Byrne.
For fans Hugh Keays-Byrne is the man that played the toe cutter in the original mad max.
i liked some of the characters they developed, i liked the fact that they built the cars and drove them and the CGI was at least under 30%.
I even got the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse references.
"Who killed the world?"
Immortan Joe was "Pestilence"
Bullet Farmer was "War"
The people eater was "Famine"
Max was "death"
the wives were the seeds of change pretty literally
There was the theme of redemption over and over again.
Yet in no way was the story or movie that good. in fact i wanted to walk out half way through but i was with a bunch of people.. the second the movie ended everyone said in unison "that was a TERRIBLE movie"
they went over the top, which is what miller wanted, it was exploitation movie and it just didn't work....
from a standpoint of some realism mad max, and road warrior both worked, thunder dome was already going off a cliff but you bought into it because it was 1985.
Fury road just was not that good. They took the last 15 minutes of the road warrior and just made it 2 hours long, rebooted the character which they really didn't have to do.
the kids love this movie, bright colors and stuff blowing up , guitar with a flame thrower, anarchy a world gone mad.... and every time max spoke( 2 times) all i heard was bane from batman and he signed up for 3 more mad max movies in this new rebooted universe.
they need to stop rebooting stuff.
