I bought the complete weatherstripping kit for my 73. I really got the kit in hopes of sealing off those rear windows to help keep them from leaking. Since I started taking the weatherstripping off around the window I notice that the rail that holds it has some rotten seal that is between it and the car. I assume it is a black tar type sealant that runs the whole way on the window. Now has anyone changed those and if so what would you recommend.
Also I have two different rear window seals. One is about two years old still in teh plastic and the other one came in the kit. The one in the kit is hard and does not lay flat, but the one I bought a couple of years ago seems very smooth and feels more relaxed I guess. Which one should I use, they both look the same just not sure.
I plan on calling the window guys to see what they say, but any help with the quarter window would be great. I use some black sealant last time and shoved it in there to help but dont know if it worked
